thats all i have right now. i got the final cut yesterday and i'm about to be hooked up with some more, woo-hoo. the final cut is good and carries a lot of the signature sound from the roger waters era. overall, i would say that the waters era was the best, but i do have sooo much love for division bell. the final cut has a sax solo that screams 1980something, but i like it. momentary lapse of reason was one of the very first albums i got stoned to, but its definately my least fave now.

    Of the ones you've listed, I'd probably go with this order:

    Wish You Were Here
    Division Bell
    Dark Side of the Moon
    Momentary Lapse of Reason
    The Wall
    The Final Cut

    My advice to you would be to pick up Animals next.

    Dude , First Of All You Have To Get Animals Up In There Towards The Top,following Wish You Were Here. Wish You Were Here Is An Album Like No Other In My Opnion. But If I Had To Pick And Album To Jam To, Im Popping In Animals All The Way!

    I like the Final Cut, but I consider it a RW solo album, despite the name. To be fair, Momentary Lapse of Reason is kind of a David Gilmour solo album, IMO. I don't mean that in a bad way for either record.

    Not to sound rude, but I've heard parts of Animals and it doesn't do anything for me. Am I missing something.

    Can someone help me out why The Final Cut and Animals are so great?

    The rest don't really matter. Pre-Gilmour is kind of bland, the early Gilmour (up till Meddle) was better but still not that great, and after Waters left they made 2 relatively boring albums (not terrible, but certainly nowhere near the 5 i've ranked).

    There are still a few i haven't heard though. (Obscured by clouds, saucerful of secrets, the final cut, more, ummagumma, and most of the piper at the gates of dawn.... so you see i still have work to do)

    Why is Animals #1?

    I've heard parts and just didn't get it. It was a bit boring compared to The Wall or WYWH

    animals is a puzzle to me. it was always in the car stereo when the car was full of smoke and you couldn't see outside the car windows through the smoke................i think it's about pigs.......or dogs.......or sheep.......or something.......

    It's just my favorite..........I can listen to the whole album and not even think about skipping a song. It has my favorite Floyd song, Sheep, on it.

    You probably need to listen to the whole thing............Les Claypool (with his Frog Brigade) covered the entire album live and released it as "Live Frog II." It just has a magic about it.

    Actually i dunno if Sheep is my favorite but it's up there... the album on the whole is definetly #1 for me.





    I don't get this whole 'syd barret was amazing' stuff. The man couldn't play lead guitar, and gilmour+waters is one of the best writing duos in history. Fuck syd barret.
