After eleven years as a band, Sleater-Kinney have decided to go on indefinite hiatus. The upcoming summer shows will be our last. As of now, there are no plans for future tours or recordings.

We feel lucky to have had the support of many wonderful people over the years. We want to thank everyone who has worked with us, written kind words about us, performed with us, and inspired us.

But mostly we want to extend our gratitude to our amazing fans. You have been a part of our story from the beginning. We could not have made our music without your enthusiasm, passion, and loyalty. It is you who have made the entire journey worthwhile.

    wow, this is surprising

    maybe they just need some time off, we all do once in a while, they were a pretty hard working band, maybe they just want time off to live normal lives

    i am so fucking sad right now , i cant believe what i just read!!i love this band and i just fell in love with them i nthe past two years. The Woods might be one of the best records put out in years, how can they end it like this ? i went out and bought alot of their albums this year and last and even got my siter into them big time. and we had all of these plans to see them in the future live and couldnt wait for soem new material. ia m so sad. well atleast i got to see them live twice , Thanks PJ !

    what a way to go out though.....the woods might be their absolute best album. it's sad that we won't hear any more from them but they had a pretty stellar career. they seemed to only get better with age

    really? I wasnt a big fan but I know they have a lot who are going to be disappointed.
    These cuts are leaving creases. Trace the scars to fit the pieces, to tell the story, you don't need to say a word.

    yeah Grace, same here. Lyd called me at work, and I was sad when I heard about it. I am still in shock over this! :( I have been listening to S~K for the past two days, right now, listening to Call the Doctor album and now, it is really sad that they are breaking up. i'm glad though that we got to see them, they really LOVE coming to SF and i know fans around this area will miss them.

    This really suxs, there last couple of albums were awesome. I'm glad I got to see them twice this year before they called it quits.

    To each his/her own bryn_cmbs. I definitely understand how this band wouldn't be for everyone....but I guess we'd just like to mourn in peace is all. :o :(
