I was at Coachella and Rock the Bells on Saturday. I liked the RTB setlist better.....mostly because of "Tire Me" and "Know Your Enemy", two of my favorites...

    1.Testify
    2. Bulls On Parade
    3. People of the Sun
    4. Know Your Enemy
    5. Vietnow
    6. Bullet in the Head
    7. Rolling Down Rodeo
    8. Tire Me
    9. Guerilla Radio
    10. Calm Like A Bomb
    11. Sleep Now In The Fire
    12. Wake Up

    Encore:
    13. Freedom
    14 Killing In the Name

And what should he be listening too, Lee Greenwood and "God Bless the USA".

I know the NEOCONS and AIPAC followers love that type of country hick shit that will motivate your hillbilly children to go and enlist and die for Oil for Mobil and security for Isreal.
  • So are they committed to staying together now? I'd really LOVE to see them again, although sadly I think the music has kind "lost it's magic" for me. Back in the hayday I was REALLY into the whole political message they were into, etc. Overtime, and especially since they disbanded, it just kind of grew stale for me. I have kind of a mixed position when it comes to politics. I still have a strong idealistic nature and I fully support the idea of creating a 3rd party in politics, but I'm also pretty grounded in "conservative values". By that I don't mean "ban gay marriage, no abortion, no gun control" Republican values, I mean strong work ethic, good moral compass, etc. Political extremism just turns me off now because I know it's bound to fail if you can't reach the consensus of the public in a "rational manner". I’d still love to see Rage play again, but it wouldn’t feel the same since my heart isn’t entirely behind the message anymore.

Republikkan Values? Are u referring to lying (WMD's) stealing (Haliburton no bid contract, 2000 election) Cronyism (Bechtel/Mobil/Gonzalez) murder (all those 18 year old american kids who died for Halliburton profits and Isreali security)

Are these the values u speak of.

  • I remember seeing porno for pyros a long time ago and someone shouted to Perry Farrel: "Where's the Rage Perry??" as P4P had started exploring less cockrock soundscapes and this one fan was apparently not pleased with the new direction. Perry responded to a question with a question (typical Perry) saying: "Where's all that rage gonna get you?".

I guess RATM has answered the question. Given the lack of new material on their setlists and Zach's inability to execute a solo album over the past seven years, it seems the answer is Absolutely Nowhere.

Nowhere? They are one of the best bands out there and could sell out any venue in the U.S. So how is that nowhere?

It was a good show yesterday. Tom and Brad were on fire. However, either the tuning of Timmy's bass was off, or he was. Both he and Zack were rusty at times. Zack's voice has changed a bit (as expected over time) but not so much that it lessened the experience. I enjoyed it for what it was, my first Rage show since '97. But I believe that if they get back together on a full-time basis they will need to rehearse more and play for at least 80+ minutes like they used to. 65 minutes was far too short!

EDIT: First time at Randalls Island. What the fuck kind of drainage system do they have?? Some parts of the venue are dry as shit while others have a six inch puddle of dirty muddy water with grass and mud to boot. Very odd! Would have loved to have seen PJ there back in '96.

When I said "nowhere" I was refering to their ability to grow as a band.

Best bands out there? Maybe if they actually wrote a new song in the past 7 or 8 years they might actually be worthy of that title. Maybe "nowhere" was too strong, but let's be honest here, they are not a band that has challenged itself since ... well since they started waaaay back in the early 1990s. Plus there are plenty of people that can sell out venues--that don't prove shit. They do have a place in music history I admit, but they are a one-trick pony and will be until we are shown otherwise.

True they haven't released anything in seven years. However, is it not difficult to release music when your are no longer together? And referring to them as a one-trick pony is a tad insulting. It's not as though their songs only had one direction (i.e. only "raging against" republicans). They did take way too long in between album releases, but each brought with them the anger and fury of what was wrong in the world (to them) at that time. How could that be referred to as a one trick pony? Now the RHCP on the other hand. There's your pony!

I'm a die hard Rage fan but I also think they are a one trick pony. They've certinally experimented but at the end of the day they don't really reinvent themselves. But their one trick pony is a fucking amazing trick so I'm not complaining. If it isn't broken then don't fix it!

i was at rock the bells day 2 and i thought the set was great. zach only addressed the crowd twice. once at the beginning and end. would have liked to see a speech, but they ripped through their set and sounded excellent. well worth sitting through a full day of mostly shitty hip hop.

You're preaching to the choir man. I've voted Democrat in every election I've been to, and I'm a son of a Union man and a child of blue collar labor. I don't have shit in common with Republicans. What I meant by "I'm becoming more conservative" is my outlook isn't radical anymore. You REALLY wanna change people's minds? Drop the conspiracy theory bullshit and ranting, and say somethign RATIONAL that will influence them. Rage sure aint that....

The set was intense on Sunday, but no KNOW YOUR ENEMY, which pissed me off, its my favorite Rage song. Randalls Island is a shit hole though, especially the rain, their exit strategy was awful too. They need more buses and less walls blocking the exit.

Spot on about the crappy plans for getting people out...

For such a relatively remote location (at least for NYC) you are going to have a lot of people driving...

It took us 1 1/2 hours just to go the 500 feet out of the parkin glot...

Once we were out of the lot, it was clear sailing...

The exit strategy was pretty poor. But I lucked out leaving through the VIP entrance towards the front of the stage walked up to an empty MTA bus that was just opening its doors, jumped on, and was back in Manhattan in no time.I never get lucky with leaving shows so this is one for the books. And again, Randalls Island is a total shithole!

It's a pit, especially when you have a day with that much rain...

    It was really disgusting...

I got stuck wearing sandals (ended up crashing at a buddy's pl;ace Sat night and wasn't prepared for the show) so I had to wade thorugh all that shit (literally)...

Also, being down in front for Rage wearing sandals means my toes are all bruised)...

But oh well, who gives a fuck, right?

    Rage was great...
