"Pictures of Lily" - by The Who. The subject matter was masterbation,
fairly groundbreaking for 1966.

    do you mean provocative as in you were shocked by listening to it or in the context of when released? if so Pictures of Lily is up there.

    in terms of one i was struck by when i realised what the lyrics were about...

    I think Nirvana's "Polly" is really interesting, albeit it's really disturbing. Sublime's "Date Rape" is in the same category, but at least it has a moral at the end.

    I don't know that it is the most provacative, but the first song to come to mind was "Prison Sex" by Tool. Any song with the line, "shit, blood, and cum on my hands." has to make this list.

    I always thought Stinkfist's "Finger/knuckle/wrist/elbow deep within the borderline" lines were pretty arresting.
