Sick of ignorant people who think they are from Aussie. Do a little research. Not everything from down under comes from Aussie. No offence to Aussies by the way. You guys are cool. Just putting the plug for Kiwi muscians.

Technically New Zealand is part of the continent Australia, therefore making them Aussies, right? I wouldn't know, so correct me if I'm wrong please.

but in all seriousness, i am from NZ and i have never been able to get into anything from here, kiwi music just makes me cringe, i cant stand it, and i truely cant wait for NZ Music month to be over.
NZ music isnt for me, that doesnt make me a bad person, i know lots of people who cant stand NZ Music, or Nz TV, and no its not because of the present trend to hate somethign because its kool either lol.

You could hate something i like, but i really dont give a fuck

Well, my only real complaint in what your saying is that I dont like lumping music from nz into the category of "new zealand music". I listen to a lot of New Zealand music, not because of where it is from but because I like it. Im even involved in a small indie label, http://www.powertoolrecords.co.nz

yeah im in a band too, sorry im didnt mean to give you that feeling, its just my personal opinion, i find the NZ is more a catergory, i guess more brand like, maybe ina few years there will be a band id like from here, but so far there isnt it just doesnt interest me at all

  • Can we have examples of what you think is crap? Im all for other peoples opinions, but like to have examples backed up with them. There is some real crap in NZ of course there is...but theres also some really great stuff.

    Ie: In my opinion

Good=Opshop,Feelers,D4,Datsuns,any Finn Bros work,Dave Dobbyn,Scribe, The Checks, Shihad, Exponents, Supergroove, HLAH

Bad=Pluto (to me so fuckin overhyped), Goodshirt, Blindspott, Keith Urban (he was born here, it counts) and others that slip my mind

And I think the local scene is awesome. Ive been to the Kings Arms a few times and had a ball.
Its been 8 years, but I still believe...PJ in NZ 06!

ok so theres one post you made that i guess was passable.....now you could have been as on par with your other posts....mate, dont start going all freakin crazy and acting like a damn fool....saying shit like I cant stand people like you...dude...relax, the harshness is completly unnecessary.

and never forget..to each his own...others like stuff you do not and vice versa....we all have opinions....they were stating theirs, you were stating yours, you just went about it the wrong way. If you want an adult conversation...post like one.

    Neil Finn Good????
    Wrong!!!!!!!!!
    He is BRILLIANT!

Australian has NO ONE to the class of Neil Finn, well maybe Nick Cave, but Neil is in a class of his own. When Paul McCartney says Neil is his favourite song writer then you've got class!

Split Enz are just brialliant as well!

To most peoples defence though when Split Enz played their farewell concert in Brisbane in the mid 80's and Crowded House play their farewell concert in front of thousands at the Sydney Opera House then you would be forgiven for thinking Neil Finn is an Aussie.
Why didnt they do these in NZ?
Poor Kiwis cant get their own legend to play there, though he did reward them with the Seven Worlds Collide concerts!
I had it all once I gave it back

and it's because of this that kiwis are the winners.
you can't beat the forecourt of the sydney opera house as a spectacular venue but those shows at the st. james, they were way more intimate and to me that makes them better.

so people telling me to fuck off is fine. but if i say something its wrong?
    doesnt that contradict itself?

As for the person who asked for the examples, any NZ Music lol, from Shihad to Aradnina, scribe, to rubicon, i just cant tolerate it at all :)

Ive heard of the Able Tasmans, Bailterspace and ive seen International Flannel live at the Kings Arms...they played before my mates band. Were they the band that seemed like they were just a Ramones tribute band?
