Really Bad Christmas Songs

I am compiling a list of BAD Christmas songs. Here is what I have so far. Please share what songs you can't stand to hear this time of year.

#1 - The Christmas Shoes - NewSong
#2 - A wonderful Christmas time - Paul McCartney
#3 - That damn "me I want a hoola hoop" song by the Chipmunks
#4 - Last Christmas - George Michael
#5 - Anything by Mariah Carrey, Jessica Simpson, or Christina Aguilera - way too over the top!
#6 - Any so-called "funny" Christmas song. I have never once heard a Christmas song that was actually funny. Examples include: Grandma got run over by a reighndeer, Walking 'round in woman's underwear, Jingle Cats or barking dogs, and I am Santa Clause
#7 - Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas & Please Come Home for Christmas - these songs are way to meloncollie
#8 - Walking in a winter wonderland by Annie Lennox
#9 - Any traditional song that is sung differently. Example: "Oh Holy Night... the stars are brightly shining" becomes "Oh..... holy night..... the stars..... are brightly...... shining" . I can't sing along, dammit!

and for the record, I love "Feliz Navidad!"

#5 - Anything by Mariah Carrey

I would like to contest this entry. All I Want For Christmas Is You could be one of the best Christmas songs of the modern era.

I HATE Mariah and her music, I think it's over-hyped shite... but DAMN!! I LOVE that song! :D

I vote 'Millenium Prayer' by Cliff Richard.

or anything by Cliff Richard for that matter.

    Simply ghastly.
Been to this many PJ shows: Reading 2006 London 2007 Manchester & London 2009 Dublin, Belfast, London, Nijmegen & Berlin 2010 Manchester 1 & Manchester 2 2012...

That Alvin & The Chipmunks song makes me feel sick. Anything they sing makes me ill. My wife & I went & say "Four Christmases" this weekend and they played A&The Chip singing Journey's "Don't Stop Believing" before the previews and it was horrible. Then the announcer said that it was from their "forthcoming album"....dear god.

I totally agree with everything on your list. As far as quality Christmas songs go, I still love "Christmas in Hollis" by Run-DMC. You may remember hearing it in the movie Die Hard as John McClane gets escorted to his wife's Christmas party in a limo.

    I love that song!

another bad one: "Christmas Wrapping" by The Waitresses. it was on a Christmas movie the other day, Elf I think, and it's tollerable for about 60 seconds, but it just came on the radio and now I am about to hurl...

    #7 - Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas "

    Nah, this song is mint!

I'm thinking more along the lines of every X-Mas song PJ has ever attempted. They're uh......not too good

Santa Baby by anyone. And the Paul McCartney song on the list should be at the top. It is a big bag of fail. I feel like breaking my head when I hear it.
    R.i.p. Rigoberto Alpizar.
    R.i.p. My Dad - May 28, 2007
    R.i.p. Black Tail (cat) - Sept. 20, 2008
  • Although I'm a huge McCartney fan, I agree that his xmas song is an epic fail. Lennon definitely beat him in that regard.

haha, totally. I was just at Disneyland on Sunday and the damn song was in my head all day for no reason. Began to drive me insane. Worse than the Small World/jingle Bells medley which is really tough to top

i hate the shit out of that song.

as far as funny songs, have you heard 'the 12 pains of christmas'? or what about porky pig singing 'blue christmas'? i love both of those. crack me up whenever i hear them.

  • I cant think of another person I respect more musically than paul mccartney, but his christmas song "simply having a wonderful christmas time" or whatever its called is pretty bad.

another one, not sure of the title but the lines go something like this "last christmas I gave you my heart"
  • GalianaGaliana Posts: 554
That was Last Christmas by George Michael.

That McCartney song is cheesy, but I like it. It's one of my "it's not Christmas until I hear that song" songs.
Don't threaten me with a good time.

I bought this Xmas compilation CD years ago with a lot of old classics like Brenda Lee's Rocking Around the Xmas Tree and Bobby Helms' Jingle Bell Rock... Anyway, most of the songs on there are pretty palatable if not pleasant. The one major exception is Baby's First Christmas by Connie Francis! God I hate this fucking song with suck a passion that when I hear it, I want to claw my eyes out and ram a goddamn meat thermometer in my ears! Anything to make it stop. It suuuuuuucks!

"Christmas Card from a Hooker in Minneapolis" by Tom Waits is possibly the best Xmas song of all time:

    Followed closely by this:

That is one of the best Christmas songs... along with 'Let Me Sleep (It's Christmastime)', Jill Sobule's version of 'Merry Christmas From The Family', the entire 'Charlie Brown Christmas' soundtrack and 'Happy Christmas/War Is Over' by John Lennon.

  • #2 - A wonderful Christmas time - Paul McCartney

I have to argue against that, because I frequently visit the pub that the video was filmed in :Dhttp://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=V9BZDpni56Y - I quite like the song as well to be honest.
    #4 - Last Christmas - George Michael

Totally agree with that, and the video is just horrific.

Not sure if it's been mentioned, but I can't stand that new version of "Do They Know it's Christmas" they did not so long ago... that stupid rap bit tips it over the edge. The original was bad enough to be honest...
  • I'm thinking more along the lines of every X-Mas song PJ has ever attempted. They're uh......not too good

I hate to say, but I agree. Maybe they'll put out a kick ass Christmas song this year... on time!

I used to think McCartney's was the #1 worst until I heard "The Christmas Shoes" by NewSong.... it's absoultly dreadful. It's based on the story of a kid who buys fancy shoes for his sick mother "in case she meets Jesus tonight". AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! look for it on youtube, I would post a link but youtube is filtered at work. but make sure nothing sharp is around or you will want to stab your eardrums repeatedly
