Poster Auction to Benefit Kenya

Hey everybody,
I'm auctioning off 3 Pearl Jam posters on eBay and will donate 100% of the proceeds to The East African Center, a Seattle-based non-profit dedicated to improving the education, health, and general welfare of Kenyans living in extreme poverty. EAC operates the Vutakaka Community Center which includes a school for both child and adult literacy programs, a health clinic that provides basic health services as well as HIV/AIDS/tuberculosis/malaria education, and a sewing and agricultural cooperative to help provide income to those living in or near the village. They are currently trying to expand their over-crowded school as the Kenyan government continues to fail in its promise to deliver education to all Kenyan children.
As you probably have heard, Kenya is currently a country in turmoil. Violence is raging following the recent presidential election in which two sides are claiming victory. This violence is affecting EAC's work as the prices for basic goods are skyrocketing. Any support you can provide will help EAC continue to provide basic goods and services to people who desperately need them.

I would encourage anyone who is interested in helping to make an anonymous donation using the link above with the designation "The Friends of Pearl Jam". I'm so proud of the fact that this band and its fans have such an active social conscience and there are few better places for which we can exercise that conscience. Any amount you generously give will go a long way to help a lot of people who live without many of the things we all take for granted. In just the last month, EAC has helped...
...provide 48 infants with immunizations
...save 4 women from dying during childbirth
...teach 78 mothers the importance of breastfeeding
...provide 180 students with a nutritious daily meal, each and every day
...reach over 1,000 people with general health services and education
Your help will ensure that EAC's efforts will continue and provide them the opportunity to reach more ordinary Kenyans in need.
Best of luck to those of you who will bid in the poster auctions and many thanks to any of you who choose to donate some of your hard-earned money to this deserving organization. Finally, thanks to the Ten Club for allowing me to auction off these posters for a great cause.
Asante sana (thank you),

Making me wonder if I should put some of my posters to a good cause...

The BBC has a good Q&A for those unfamiliar with the recent events surrounding last year's presidential elections:

EAC's Community center is located in Takaungu, a village north of Mombasa. You can map it here:

Remember that the proceeds from these auctions are going to a great cause. Thankfully, the violence in Kenya is showing signs of abating as the various political factions continue to seek compromise. However, millions of Kenyans still live in extreme poverty and organizations like The East African Center are working hard every day to give ordinary Kenyan villagers access to education and health care. As a private non-profit, EAC needs your help in order to help others!
My deepest thanks go out to all of you who have donated your money or participated in these auctions. You guys rock!
This is my kind of love...

(I promise this is the last time I bump this thread )
If anyone else would like to help EAC, you can donate directly via the link below:

Every dollar counts and goes a long way towards helping end Kenya's cycle of poverty. I would encourage anyone who is interested in helping to donate via the link above and to include "The Friends of Pearl Jam" in their designation. You can also donate via mail or phone -- information is available at EAC's website (http://www.eastafricancenter.org/).
I will be visting EAC's community center in Kenya this September and will be sure to report back regarding the work they are doing.
Thanks again everybody!
Best,
-Jeff
