STP in Dallas (PJ related)

So I saw STP in Dallas last weekend and it was an amazing show. How is this Pearl Jam related you ask? Because... the show was sold out and the crowd was way into the performance. Pearl Jam could easily do a double nighter here and it would sell out no problem. Btw if you get a chance to see STP this tour definitely go see them...it was fantastic.

I saw STP at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles and they were awesome!

It was totally a greatest hits show, but the band was really into it, Scott was very grateful and awestruck by the crowd/venue, and the entire show was a giant sing-along.

Definitely one of the better shows I have been to, and I wasn't even expecting much going in.

On a PJ-related note, why has Pearl Jam never played the Hollywood Bowl? I'm positive that they could sell out the place, no problem, and it's probably the most beautiful venue in all of Southern California.

I want PJ at the Hollywood Bowl, soon!

I just don't understand why anyone would want to see these guys. They have a handful of memorable tunes, but I've seen bar bands with better lead singers, what with his silly suits and complicated shoes.

Because if Pearl Jam ever decided to suck, and if Ed lost all his talent, then both these bands would be about the same.

It's "pearl jam related" in a sarcastic way. The original poster is implying that bands still come through Texas and rock the fuck out to those in attendence regardless of if the show is dubbed a sold out show. The stp show apparently was. Basically if Pearl jam would just come back down here and play some shows the crowds would rock. I for one missed STP and I do now regret it. However Nokia theater is a very nice theater to see a show at in the Dallas area (Grand Prairie, TX). Very intimite venue with not a bad seat in the house and the sound is great. I saw the Moody Blues there back in 05 and was supposed to see the Pumpkins, but the original date was canceled and I couldn't make the reschedule. If Pearl jam played Nokia, that would be a hell of a show. There are smaller venues like Nokia if Playing the amphitheaters is such a problem as it has seemed to be. Not sure because I don't know any band members directly or haven't met them but from reports on here, that's what I have gathered.

I saw them a little less than a week after the "incident" and they were solid. The show was ten times better than I could have imagined.

The only problem is I always knew what the next song would be as the show went on because they never change the damn setlist.

I don't think that Dallas or Houston are a conern for PJ. A lot of cities in the south have typically sold well for them (Atlanta also comes to mind). The problem is the smaller cities that have to be worked in to any tour of the south for travel/logistics reasons.

There's no question that Dallas could sell out 2 PJ shows.
    I agree 100%.

I hate the fact that Weiland feels like the need to play dress-up every night, too. But he does have talent ... much better than any old bar band singer.

So it's related in that he's complaining about the band like 20 other threads?

They went on an hour late in Jersey or some place because Scott was being an ass. According to reports, one of the DeLeo brothers was screaming at him backstage, calling him "Axl."

I was there too! Great show! The only thing I don't like about the Bowl is that if you aren't sitting in the box seats or the 1st set of bleachers you can barely here the damn music. They need to put speakers towards the back.

I would rather see them play the Greek or the Nokia Theater. Playing Universal Amp(Gibson amp) would freaking sweet too!!!

by "they" you mean Scott and only Scott - the rest of the band was very tight. and by "drunk" you must be shot full of drugs. ;-)

i still had fun at the show - they have a great catalogue.

caught them here in houston june 28....wasn't expecting much from scott (stp being one of my fav band back in the days. didn't want to get my hopes up)...also from seeing vids of earlier tour and the kimmel show, weiland looked weak...so i was surprise to see such an awesome performance...i knew the rest of the band would be good but weiland was awesome that night...really great concert...everyone was into it...played hits after hits...i just wished they played longer..i think they were on stage for about 1hr 30mins

I saw STP @ Hard Rock Live in Orlando just before they split up and no sh*t it was the most energetic, balls out show I have ever been to. Scott may be a f*cked-up individual (hell, so am I) but he was so into it he was scary. One of my top-list shows.

Right up front, too. Give one nut for a boot. And no greatest hits thing. Sh*t, they're not done by a long shot.
Good evening San Diego, I'm Ron Burgundy
