Pinkerton

edited August 2008 in Other Music
I've been listening to Weezer's Pinkerton religious lately. It was my first introduction to the band some 11 years ago. While I'm not the biggest fan of the most recent albums, I just can't get enough of the Blue/Pinkerton era =W=.

I just wanted to get a feel for the board's perception of the album. It has, IMO, some of the best songs Weezer ever produced.

i think its easily their best album, along with the blue album. i dont really care for anything else they have put out and their live show is a disappointment.

When did you see them live? Yes, recently they are a huge disappointment. I saw them in 2000 before the green album came out and I thought they were awesome.

i think it was in 2005 or 2006. it was at a small, intimate place, roseland ballroom, in nyc. i was very disappointed.
  • Yeah, I saw them on that tour too at the Avalon. It was fun... but Rivers was lacking a lot of emotion in the performance.

In '02 I saw them play Only in Dreams.... it was unreal.

I'm giving them a shot on this tour because there's a part of me that doesn't want to give up hope...

I have all their albums and can enjoy all of them for what they are (aside from Make Believe which was absolute crap; I can even enjoy the new one). That being said, nothing they do will ever come close to the Blue Album and Pinkerton. The Blue Album is my favorite and one of my favorites by any artist ever but Pinkerton is a very good album. I actually didn't hear Pinkerton all the way through until about 4 years ago. I had listened to my ignorant friends who said it sucked and just took their word for it. Of course I then realized that their taste in music was suspect at best.
I wish I was as fortunate, as fortunate as me.

  • For those of you that aren't feeling the new Weezer, check out the song, "The Angel and the One" from the newest album. It is reminiscent of the old =W=. Also, "I Can Love" which is a bonus track, also reminds me of old =W=.

If any of you are looking for some quality non album =W=, check out the song "I Just Threw Out the Love of My Dreams". It's the b-side from the "Good Life" single. It's one of my favorite songs they've ever done.
