I remember a few years back at a show when Eddie had the flu and only did a few songs. Then Neil came out and did stuff with the band. And the crowd was all pissed off.I heard that Jeff kinda went off on the crowd.Does anyone have video or audio of this?

It's right after they do Cortez the Killer. I do have this, but don't have the means to get it to you. Sorry.
  • Its the show from Golden Gate Park 6/24/95. With the help of google, it took 5 seconds to find the show online for download:

You beat me to it UncleNeil!

    Here you go Stoneg :)

Eddie's speach is heartbreaking, but Jeff later on doesn't say much, it's the tour manager (I believe) who goes off on the crowd

I was there. This was my very first PJ Show. It was painful. People were pissed. Everyone was talking shit. It was so much build up to this show and when Ed got sick it was devastating. I remember people spewing garbage all the way home on the public transportation. Lots of people clowning the fact that they played Rockin in the Free World twice.

The make up show in San Jose was unbelievable.

Heartbreaking? He said he was sick. Calm down.

I think the guy who went off on the crowd was the guy who introduces bands at Bridge School. Sounds like him, anyway.

I was there. We made the best of it an had an awesome time. We all got pretty wasted... but damn if we didn't have a hella fun time!

Heartbreaking was standing in SF airport the next morning and getting a call that the associated press had just stated the tour was cancelled... as i was on my way to attend 2 shows in SD, and then Phoenix, Las Cruces, and Austin. :(

I made up for it as best i could with 2 days and 2 Pearl Jam shows at summerfest in milwaukee...

    good times :)

Not sure but he sounds, to my ear, exactly like the guy who introduces bands at Bridge School.

  • Don't really understand why people were booing and heckling. They could have cancelled the show, instead they got 7 songs of Eddie then the whole of Mirrorball. Plus another show later in the year. Sounds great to me.
we're all going to the same place...

it's gotta be him...sounds exactly like him if not

you need to read everyone's post on this thread. somewhere on this ONE PAGE of TALL WEEDS you will find a clue to that question...

here's my theory on what happened there. PJ and Neil were trying to push the Mirror ball record so eddie faked it.

I don't think it's cool that they booed, but I have heard a lot of people say how it was great because they got to see Neil Young. I would not have been happy because I didn't pay to see Neil Young, and am not a fan.

my first show too, and sadly didnt make it to the makeup show. to say that people were pissed is putting it mildly...was an ugly mob scene on the way out of the park.

hard to believe that was 13 years ago????

ah, but we got red mosquito out of it, and so its all good now
