hahahah!! I couldnt help laughing at the Jan 21st show when the crowd spelt your name out. I'm not a regular on the A&C board, but remembered your name from this boad. Very nice indeed.
And damn, didn't Saturday's show blow everything else to smithereens? "All The Gods" alone made that a great night. Way better than the previous night.
How were the NY shows by the way??Have you ideas on how this life ends?

wow."What’s Orphans? I don’t know. Orphans is a dead end kid driving a coffin with big tires across the Ohio River wearing welding goggles and a wife beater with a lit firecracker in his ear." - Tom Waits0 -
Darnit, they completely skip the West Coast. I was looking forward to seeing Do Make Say Think in Seattle but they cancelled and joined with BSS, and they're going nowhere near the NW.0

im bummed that i missed them at lollapalooza. i wonder if i can talk my friend into going to that indi show.0 -
I had the album you forget it in people for quite some time when I finally got to see them. The Matrix opened the show for them and after about 3 songs I was wondering if this was infact an opener They were so good that I was starting to think that they were The Broken social scene. It wasn't of corse, but then came another thought into my head; How can they ever top this gig? The Matrix was so fucking powerful and had so much energy that it started to look as if they would out play The Broken social scene. Then they came on and they gave me an answer how they could top it. They were so so so tripping. Really talented musicians, with a kick ass live show.« One man's glory is another man's hell.
You’re on the outside, never bound by such a spell.
Together in the darkness, alone in the light.
I took it upon me to be yours, Timmy,
I’ll lead your angels and demons at play tonight......»0 -
All this BSS love on this thread practically brings a tears of joy to my eyes.....such an amazing band....I fell in love the first time I heard "Anthems for a 17 year-old girl" and havent looked back since - my FAVOURITE band. I have seen them live a few times now and every time their shows are amazing - such a spectacle.
There was a Feist special on Bravo a few months back "Live at the Rehearsal Hall".....amazing - it has been re-run a few times.....keep your eye out for it - not to be missed
I can't believe I go away for a weekend and all these great threads pop up - BSS, Grandaddy, Doves and Godspeed You Black Emepror.....such a nice change from the typical AIC and Audioslave threadsIn my world everyone is a pony,
and they all eat rainbows and pooh butterflies!0 -

i just saw them in philly last week and it was nothing short of amazing. best show i've seen in a while. i don't have a set, but it looked pretty similliar to what you saw. no Cinnamon Girl though.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDEDThose undecided,........ Needn't have faith to be free

Word on the street is that they're breaking up soon. Can't remember where I read it, but Kevin Drew mentioned in a recent interview that each member is too busy with solo careers and side projects for them to stay together. He said they might still be able to record together in the future, but they probably won't be able to tour anymore. I haven't been able to see them live yet, so hopefully I can catch them before they hang it up."I try my best to chug, stomp, weep, whisper, moan, wheeze, scat, blurt, rage, whine, and seduce. With my voice I can sound like a girl, the boogieman, a Theremin, a cherry bomb, a clown, a doctor, a murderer. I can be tribal. Ironic. Or disturbed. My voice is really my instrument."
-Tom Waits0 -
to lose Broken Social Scene and the Rheostatics in the same year would be truly tragic.....
from Pitchfork:
"Calm down, people. Broken Social Scene are NOT breaking up. A little while ago, it was reported by various publications that the Canadian collective will go on hiatus after a fall American tour.
According to the band's publicist, the hiatus will be exactly that-- a well-deserved break. No "indefinite" Sleater-Kinney steez here, just a bit of time off after an intense year or so of touring. Which makes total sense."In my world everyone is a pony,
and they all eat rainbows and pooh butterflies!0 -
The journalist in me decided to do some digging, and I found this article from Chartattack.com. I might be reading too much into this, but to me it sounds like a little more than a hiatus, especially this part:
"While forthcoming about the reasons for the impending break, Drew offered no hint about when, if ever, fans could expect a Broken Social Scene reunion or new album."
http://chartattack.com/DAMN/2006/07/1007.cfm"I try my best to chug, stomp, weep, whisper, moan, wheeze, scat, blurt, rage, whine, and seduce. With my voice I can sound like a girl, the boogieman, a Theremin, a cherry bomb, a clown, a doctor, a murderer. I can be tribal. Ironic. Or disturbed. My voice is really my instrument."
-Tom Waits0 -
yeah - that doesn't sound very promising....if they announce an upcoming show at Massey Hall we know its the endIn my world everyone is a pony,

as far as I know, the band will be hiatus so that individual members can pursue solo projects and other ventures...they will be back (eventually)...
expect new Do Make Say Think, Apostle of Hustle, Feist, Kevin Drew and Jason Collett (maybe) records out in 2007...2003: Buffalo, Toronto

i would be legitimately upset if they broke up. out of all the bands i've discovered in the past few year, this is my fav.
you forgot it in people is up there with yankee hotel foxtrot and source tags and codes as the best indie rock album to come out in the last 5 years.
after seeing them live last week and watching them all up there on stage...i'm confident i could bring someone who has no idea who they are and never heard a song and they would enjoy it. that's saying something. Those undecided,........ Needn't have faith to be free

I saw them in Providence on 11/8. Great time great show as noted. Do Make Say Think was a blast too.
barring some technical issues vocal wise at the start BSS was good. JMass. from Dino. Jnr came out for 2 songs as well.
I ran tape fro both DMST and BSS.
They said a few times "this is it for a while folks".0 -
