I had a buddy at this show, said it was unreal... The setlist was killer and the band was backed by a trumpet, trombone, violin and two keyboardist.
Plus, they played GOSSAMER!!!! That song owns... the Pumpkins are now releasing their shows as well. Check out http://www.livesmashingpumpkins.com

No. It's the same drummer and the same guy that recorded everything else, along with 2 pretty unimportant members. Just like it's always been.
I may have to catch that show in St Lou. Setlist looks neat.
my

Sounds like an impressive show. Thanks for the info.

and download any of the 08 shows, but this one would be mint and to upload it to any site like sendspace, megaupload, rapidshare, archive.org or whatever. I could return the favour with any pearl jam shows, any pumpkins shows pre this 20th anniversary tour, i got a few other random 90s bands too.

one of the best and worst shows i've ever seen
the first half was awesome but then when he chose to play about 6 new songs in a row at the end, totally killed the crowd and put people to sleep
should have atleast rearranged the setlist so the new songs were spaced out because it was indeed a killer setlist
If you want to see Billy Corgan do a Pumpkins Greatest Hits set with all your familiar favorites, do not bother going. If you want to see a fuckin' master musician at the top of his game performing songs that he wants to play for you, GET SOME TICKETS. I assume you'll get this set if you go to the second night in your city, and it is absolutely incredible. The stage is beautiful, the band is extremely well-rehearsed and prepared to do improvisations that truly enhance the show. I'm a long-time Pumpkins fan, and I wasn't familiar with over half of the material...it was like I was experiencing the Pumpkins for the first time all over again.
Billy Corgan is the fuckin' man...with that setlist, he accomplished two very important things at the same time. First, he weeded out many of the annoying drunkards quickly by playing unfamiliar material. There were trashed guys behind me who were definitely disapointed and left pretty early. The second thing is that he gave those of us who were there to get our minds blown something totally unexpected and amazing. He found a way to avoid becoming stale and really connect with the true MUSIC fans (not Pumpkins fans or concert party-ers).
That is the type of show some kid will see on youtube 20 years from now and go "wow! seeing music back then must have been so fuckin' cool"...like how we see old clips of Zeppelin or Floyd and think that to ourselves.
I can't say enough about that show. It was just really really special, and I feel extremely lucky to have been there. To all live music fans: GET SOME PUMPKINS TICKETS. You will not regret it.
Peace!
this was my exact experience...
some utter brilliance followed by just poor setlist construction, and a drop dead boring ending.
tho he played 'set the controls for the heart of the sun' which will be a highlight that will live with me forever...

YieldInHiding: "RED DOT is an intermission...not "filler." I hate that word. Filler is what's in a Twinkie."
That being said, I saw them at Bridge School and they played basically all new, slower stuff that I didn't recognize -- except for Disarm -- and I loved it.
“The only way to deal with an unfree world is to become so absolutely free that your very existence is an act of rebellion.” - Albert Camus
It won't be- it will be exactly the same as the one listed above.
Including Disarm, five of the songs from Bridge School are on the Night 2 setlist. So you'll be seeing the same songs again.
Yeah, I knew that...was more of a preference than an actual suggestion/expectation.
Badass! They sound great at the Bridge. How much of the Night 2 setlist is acoustic?

* Owata
* Sunkissed
* That's The Way (My Love Is)
are the only (mostly) acoustic songs on there. Even Landslide, I think, is played on an electric.
"In your case, I'll check my brain at the door and we'll start even, okay?"
Have you thanked a taper today?
