Well they finally announced the line-up (actually just a part of it I suppose). I for one am dissapointed, this WAS going to be my first year heading to the festival (I really wanted to see the PUMPKINS, oh well). The headliner on April 29th - Depeche Mode... April 30th - TOOL....Anyhow, there are 2 sources:

    *gathers self*

BTW~thanks VERY much for this GivenToFlyFreak. :) I've been checking the Coachella site frantically over the past few weeks for updates. Can't wait for more info but I'm already drooling over this one band alone.

I'm also really hoping a lot of the "rumored" bands end up being true as well.

  • Going to have to go for Tool!!!
, and Ive never seen Depeche mode! bout time

Can't wait for the whole lineup
  • Yeah, I guess it's really not a BAD line-up... I just had my heart set on the Pumpkins. But, standing back and looking there are plenty of other bands on the line up that would be fun! I'm just not into TOOL at all...

But I am still holding out for the Pumpkins, I would not be surprised at all if they do play this festival. Billy Corgan said the band is getting back together, Jimmy made a comment about being on board and putting out a record this year, and people on the board are hinting that there are surprises in order at Coachella this year... So who knows, maybe they play unannounced!

    Geesh.... do I go?

There is enough goodness there that I would go. If i didn't live 3000 miles away. If this event was happening somewhere in Florida, I would be jumping up and down with glee right now.

I wouldn't worry about seeing the Pumpkins, if and when they tour they will tour a hell of alot. Go over to SPFC.org and check out the tour archives, that band played everywhere. I think they toured on Mellon Collie for close to 2 years. So when they do come around, we will all get the chance to see them. Same thing with Tool really, on their last tour, they played 6 shows in my state on 3 different legs of the tour, Florida rarely gets that many shows for any band, but they played pretty much every city they could.

Looks like a pretty damn good lineup. I'm anxious to see the other bands announced.

  • Here it is as read on air at KROQ as of this morning at 8:30am... I'd say not bad all in all, heavy British influence. The only silver linining is that the official with Coachella that announced the line-up said there were other 'big bands' to be announced closer to conert date!

Night 2:Tool, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Bloc Party, Paul Oakenfold, Scissor Sisters, Matisyahu, TV on the Radio, Sleater-Kinne , Mogwai, Coheed and Cambria, Gnarls Barkley, Coldcut, Phoenix, Digable Planets, Amadou & Mariam, Little Louie Vega, Mylo (DJ Set), Seu Jorge, Wolf Parade, The Go! Team, Kaskade, Metric, Art Brut, Dungen, The Dears, Jamie Lidell, The Magic Numbers, Los Amigos Invisibles, Jazzanova, Michael Mayer, Mates of State, Gilles Peterson, Gabriel & Dresden, The Subways, Minus the Bear, Be Your Own Pet, Giant Drag, Kristina Sky, The Octopus Project.

My Morning Jacket will show every other band there how its done. They bring it live better than any band around right now.

I would be intersted in seeing about 19 of those bands. Not sure i can justify a trip across country to do it though.

anyone going be sure to catch Sigur Ros and My morning Jacket. Two of the best live shows going now adays in my opnion. Also Minus the Bear is a great little group if you have not heard them check them out!

Q101 here in Chicago said they (the pumpkins) are hoping for a Lollapalooza show here in Chi-town to play at. Lots of rumors, who knows for sure?

if i was to go the reasons would be:

    Night 1:
Depeche Mode, Sigur Ros, My Morning Jacket, Cat Power, The Walkmen

wow - just realized there is a lot of crap on night 1 and i'm not even that interested in seeing cat power.

Night 2: Tool, Bloc Party, TV on the Radio, Sleater-Kinney, Mogwai

i would go just for tool, but when you throw in s-k AND mogwai...night 2 hands down.

in my opinion, there is a lot of here today, gone tomorrow crap both nights.

if anyone does go, check out the octopus project. very cool live show.

*** oops forgot sigure ros although night 2 still wins ***

I'd go to night 2 if I was close by for sure. I'm just preying for a festival in Ontario or NY.

I wouldn't mind checking out Tool and Bloc Party
