Ross from Collective Soul

Does anybody know why he left the band? I never knew why, bc when I first got Youth I noticed Joel Kosche was their lead guitarist. I tried doing a little research on it but I never found out why he replaced Ross, and now they have a new drummer as well. Anyone know any of these things?
