Playing at hte brandy new Verizon Amphitheatre in Atlanta.

    Yummy.

no more going to through the ghetto to see bands at Lakewood! And since i live on the oppisite side of town no more having to leave 45 minutes before i want to get to the show to arrive.

I have not seen Tom yet so i'll make this a priority.

    Awesome news.

  • Well, looks like Mr. Petty has fallen in line with PJ, basically skipping the south. Oh well, I won't be traveling to Atlanta, so looks like the closest I'll get to seeing a Petty this summer will be Kyle at Talledega

Been to this many PJ shows: Reading 2006 London 2007 Manchester & London 2009 Dublin, Belfast, London, Nijmegen & Berlin 2010 Manchester 1 & Manchester 2 2012...

... and I still think Drive-By Truckers are better.

You are right, that is hardly skipping the south as I said. I, however, live in Mississippi so I typically look for Birmingham, Memphis or New Orleans -- all about three hour trips for me -- so I guess I should have said skipping my part of the south.

It wasn't so along ago we used to get some pretty good shows in Jackson, but no more. I can't remember the last worthwhile coliseum show there though. I first saw Petty in Jackson about 10 years ago

I may have to pass considering I have seen him 3 times already. I am surprised he didnt announce Milwaukee yet, he plays Summerfest just about every year. I wonder why he never plays world tours anymore? Maybe its because other countries just dont seem to get him like we do.

He's in Pittsburgh two nights before I'd leave for Bonnaroo. Maybe I'll catch Cleveland...

Either way, fucking right! I went two years ago, great fucking show. He can't hit the high notes well anymore, but just the atmosphere there is fucking unbelievable. Definitely worth the money to go see, he puts on a fantastic show. It's a greatest hits show, but it's one of the most fun times I've ever had. Ever.

Now all we need is Pearl Jam here in Pittsburgh. Or anywhere in the U.S.

Anyone remember how much tickets were for his shows on his last tour? Any guesses for this tour?

Ours were right around $50 I think with the face value being $35. We had lawn seats though, the reserved seats were like $60 face. Can't complain though cause we bought lawn and got a free upgrade for the seats dead center in reserved. Not sure why cause the place was packed by the time Petty hit the stage, but during Trey Anastasio the lawn was dead, and an usher was dishing out a bunch of tickets. I'm not going to complain about a free $40 dollar upgrade (don't think anyone would. :D I doubt that will happen again cause their playing a different venue this time.

i can't remember...shouldn't be horrible...the PJ/Petty shows were like 100 a night, which was the best 100 bucks you could possibly spend.
me you wouldn't recall, cause i'm not my former.

Yeah, but that was a co headline stint and the reason the prices were higher (I believe, someone may argue) was that both bands were really big and have loyal followings. That being said for this particular tour both bands have fan clubs with ticket access to members, and both bands wanted an opportunity to give both the clubs a shot since it was a co headline bill and not pj opening for Petty. So they double the ticket price and both bands get equal profits and their crews get profits.

  • Pearl Jam needs to play like 6 shows as the headliner on Petty's tour so it can ruin the Petty fans shows like those fuckers ruined the Denver PJ shows. No, wait I'm not still bitter about that.

Tom Petty is awesome, ticket usually run $30-50 before fees. In fact, when I saw him in '05 it was actually CHEAPER than when I saw him in 1999. Think the tickets were $29.95-- ridiculously cheap.

Another Mississippian! I grew up in and around North MS. All my family still lives in the Tupelo-Oxford area of the state. If you are 3 hrs from Memphis, Birmingham, and New Orleans, then you must live in or around Jackson.

In '95, I had a cousin who worked at The Orpheum in Memphis. He got us floor seats to see TP&TH on the Wildflowers tour. Such a great show! There's still a little wiggle-room in the itinerary that they could add a show closer to you.
