Tortoise & Bonnie "Prince" Billy - "The Brave and the Bold"
&
Cat Power - "The Greatest"

Really, I never could stand more than 1 or 2 songs by Cat Power, but this new record is just all her skills taken to the best level

The Tortoise and Prince Billy record is simply a treasure, you can almost get a mystical vibe from it, the complete transformation they did with Bruce's "Thunder Road" may be an offense for some Springsteen's fans, but I'm a big fan and simply loved how they made it sound like a completely different song, they put their own drama on it and make it sound fresh and personal.

There you go, don't let media fool you and begin your year with fantastic music.
Stone: Thanks for the pick and the night of complicity, you rock!

I haven't heard the new BPB album...may have to pick it up.

On a similar note, has anyone heard "I See a Darkness" by BPB?

That record blows me away. I just bought it like last month and it's already one of my favorite records of all time.

Damn, yeah, I listened to it for the 2nd time today, and it's really gorgeous, I just feel pissed because I haven't been able to buy the cd due to the reason that the stores here only brought like 2 copies to sell in a city of almost 20 million persons... who can believe that?

That is crap. Matador is a pretty big label, stores should be fully stocked with this thing. I've heard other people having trouble finding this in stores as well.
