Pete Doherty... a hoax?

So, what's the opinion around here about the rumour that's been circulating lately on the internet about Pete Doherty being an invention of producers/conceptual artists The KLF?
If you have no idea what I'm talking about, check this link, is a supposed letter sent by KLF or someone close to them:
http://www.recordoftheday.com/cgi-bin/rotd-mb/rotd_config.pl?read=65731
or simply google KLF Doherty, and you'll see it.
I don't know if this is true, but at least find it pretty interesting... I'm actually wishing this to be for real.
Discuss!!!

Paul is dead
Unfortunately, checking for links on Google only throws up a few smaller sites and message boards... somehow I think this might have hit the mainstream press in a big way were it true. Hmm... thinking some more, even if his entire career is a hoax, I'm still surprised there's not more media coverage on this.
I'd love to see this supposed footage of him at Butlins impersonating Buddy Holly, that has to be good for a laugh.
