so, we've heard 10 or so new tunes.

what are everyone's thoughts?

for me, videotape, 15 step, and house of cards are the fucking shit.

  • i'm not that impressed. of course i'll reserve judgment until they make it onto an actual record. house of cards doesn't do much for me. nor does 15 step or arpeggi. i kind of dig bodysnatchers and nude though. i guess they have potential to sound a lot better in the studio. i'm still confident their next album will be amazing. so far though, i've been underwhelmed

nude is a given, although i like the old big ideas version a little better.

house of cards, to me, is one that i instantly loved. arpeggi as well, but i love electronic music.

    bodysnatchers is cool too.

all the tunes grow on you, but some aren't growing at all. I like banger's, but it sounds like satan's bed, and I hate the "i got the poison" to end it.

The worst tune is down is the new up. Its all good until the end when he starts going way too high with "topsy turvy" and the alltime worst radiohead lyric, "hsake your punk ass out".

that seems like such a corny line for radiohead.

I agree though, the studio versions could all be fuckin sweet as hell!

where can i hear these new songs? besides the link for that show...

    Esther's here and she's sick?

hi Esther, now we are all going to be sick, thanks
  • My enthusiasm for Radiohead ebbs and flows ... Often in sync with Thom Yorke's moods. :)

However, 15 Step is a great tune. I also like Open Pick and Bodysnatchers.

when i'm at the pearly gates, this'll be on my videotape

can't wait to hear a studio version of this
..and you will come to find that we are all one mind, capable of all that's imagined and all conceivable
  • Four Minute Warning, Bodysnatchers, Videotape, Open Pick, Bangers And Mash, and House Of Cards are all awesome right off the bat.

Arpeggi and 15 Step are average quality.

Down Is The New Up and Go Slowly downright suck.

The new version of Nude is an abomination, although it features some nice Yorke vocal gymnastics.

So, I would say that more than half of the new songs are pretty high class.

    im with him.
  • i love down is the new up, especially the gospel piano part in the middle

    15 step is awesome

spooks rocks, in a manic surf guitar kinda way.

all i need is straight up 80's hip hop sounding, i love it too.

i think they're all pretty good.

oh i forgot about bodysnatchers...my fave of the new stuff. incredible!

15 step is one of my favorites too.

***Just dl the whole show- it takes under an hour then just delete the songs you dont want or search the P2P sites.

I loved Arpeggi ever since I first heard it in 2005 performed by Yorke, Greenwood & the Nazareth orchestra. When I heard there is a full band version in 2006, I was a bit worried cause I really loved the combination between Yorke's voice, the electric organ & and the bow instruments. Then I listened to the new version... What can I tell you? It sounds great as well, especially cause of Ed O'brain's back vocals.

I think if one song sounds so good in such different versions, it means it really is a good song. Hope it'll end up in radiohead's up coming studio album.

Nude (formaly known as 'big ideas') is an old tune for me, I love the chorus but that's it. Didn't like house of cards, there's no uniqueness for me there. 15 step and is intrsting & wonderful, as well as the rest of the other new songs. And yes, I also liked that piano part in the middle of 'down is the new up'.
  • Down Is The New Up is kinda funky ... And I agree, the piano is great. A bit of work and the song could be a classic.
I think of all the new songs, All I Need is the weakest. What a sleeper ... Seriously. You can be all avant garde and prog but not fucking boring at the same time.

  • i like bodysnatchers. the rest, meh
  • There's not one of the new songs that I don't like. I especially like Bodysnatchers and Videotape ... Arpeggi and Nude have been around for so long that they seem "older," but I still love them as just really good songs. As much as I've listened to bootlegs of these songs, I'm really excited to hear how they turn out in the studio. When I go back and listen to early versions of songs from previous albums, it's amazing how they evolve and how Radiohead's sense of "perfection" takes them just where they need to go.
