his innovative drumming on that album surely deserves some continuous participation and props in this thread.
imo his drumming and the presence of nick olliveri is what distinguishes Songs For the Deaf to their 2 follow up efforts.
Brilliant fucking album by the way

Dave's drumming on SFTD is awesome, but I also have to say Joey Castillo is possibly the best person they could have brought in he's an awesome drummer and I think the latest album is fucking amazing my favourite of the year so far.:)
Then i saw the Know One Knows video and said, hey.... thats Dave Grohl.... then it got to the chorus and my jaw hit the floor.
He had always been my favorite drummer since Nirvana and the first 2 Foo's albums, but SFTD just put him up on another level for me.
Taylor Hawkins is a good drummer an all but he never really has anything new to put out there, Dave always seems to have that ability.
If you haven't, check out Get Up I Want To Get Down by Taylor Hawkins And The Coattail Riders on youtube.:D
I meant new in that his drumming is, umm i dunno quite how to explain, lol. Dave just seems to have a style that really appeals to me. His drumming is almost the riff of the song in most cases.
But dont get me wrong, TH is an awesome drummer, i just prefer Dave.

I think the drums in Smells Like Teen Spirit had a big part in making the song.
Not sure if Grohl played em, though. If he did, when the drums start up in that song, has to be one of my favorite Grohl drum licks.
As far as im aware Dave did all the drumming on Nevermind.
Ive heard another version of 'In Bloom' with Chad Channing drumming, cant remember if it was much different from the drums Dave did on the song though... it was a shit recording.
