The spectrum of dissecting an album

I need to give most (decent) albums at least 5 spins before committing to a specific verdict. It is basically impossible for me to form an objective opinion upon a first, second or be it third listen. Obviously (more often than not) I can straight of tell whether an album blows.

I also find that most of my favourite albums are those ones that took me a while to really “grasp” and “appreciate”. Two albums that stand out in this regard would be Riot Act and Binaural. It took me ages to warm up to these release, but now they are part of my essential listening.

Listening and dissecting new music is probably my 2nd favourite hobby
First being the spinning of those I’m already in love with.
