i think this band is absolutely amazing. they've written some of the most beautiful music i've ever heard. sure, they've made some boring stuff, but every band makes mistakes (stating the obvious)
i bought Takk the other day and i havent been so drawn into an album for a long time (excluding PJ)

They are one of my favorite bands. Also, their live act is top notch. Which songs do you find boring? I own Agaetis, ( ), and Takk...none of it boring to me. You do have to be in a certain mood to listen to them, but they reach heights in emotion that few other bands ever get to.

i own the same 3 albums. love all 3 of them - Takk is definitely my favorite of the 3. i don't mean boring per se , some of the songs just don't really take a definite form imo. take the highly acclaimed sven-g-englar : not one of my favorites on AB. gong and glosoli on takk has something i havent experienced on any of their previous albums, neither on any other album for that matter.

What is this Sigur ros thread number 4 or 5. Hahahahahahaha.

It is a great band, and although I don't know which stuff you find boring. I recently heard an album by them that wasn't all that. I was told it was their first reissued. Anyway Agaetis and Takk are really beautiful. Live they had me floating so high I started thinking the earth was just a myth.

Takk is very good, I don't know which of the two I own is better in my opinion. Agaetis was the first I bought a few years ago. I only bought Takk two mounths ago, so comparing them is still some what difficult. Because like the other guy said you have to be in the mood. And there are a few others that I might pick when I'm in that mood. Anyway Sigur ros is a great great band.

I picked up ( ) yesterday cos I've heard bits about them and they always sounded interesting. So when I turned off single video theory last night :p I turned off the light and put this one on and WOW  . It was like fucking therapy - felt like I was in a floatation tank. Just absolutely beautiful stuff and I'm getting the impression today that there's better from this band? There couldn't be!

I enjoy the band a lot, but they are truely great live. If you are even a moderate fan of the band and get a chance check out their live show.

  • They really know how to fuse ambience with a rocking beat. Many bands have tried (most famously U2, who worked with Eno and Lanois), but for me Sigur Ros is the first band really to do this convincingly, because they let the music itself take full precedence over the personalities of the individual musicians.

They're actually playing at oxegen - a festival i'm going to next weekend - but I'm guessing a festival might not be the right kinda atmosphere for them? I still wanna see them there anyway.

Yeh that's true. Although I think I fell asleep pretty quickly so I probably only heard about the first three songs, lol. I can't wait to get home this evening and listen to more.

Sigur Ros are amazing both studio and live. Saw them a few years back at Roskilde and that show is on my all time top 5 list. The arena was packed with about 15000 ppl, but it felt like a fucking church! Everybody was calm and most were sitting down in awe.
This thursday I get to see them again at the same stage. Can't wait........

    Copenhagen 26-06-07

Really? So they're even recommended in a festival environment? They're headlining one of the stages so i reckon they're on the same time as the strokes or RHCP which suits me fine... last band I'd get to see of the weekend.

Well, the stage they're playing is indoors (a big tent). The acoustics inthere are surprisingly good. Even though it holds 15000 ppl, the concerts inthere feels intimate. So for that particular stage I can recommend them. I'm not shure it would work out as good on the mainstage of Roskilde (Orange), which is outdoors and has room for about 60000 in front of it.

Yeh, I'd say that might be the way it is at Oxegen then - I think it's 80000 people but there are different tents and stages. I dunno, lol, I've never been.

Well I hope ya have a great time Thursday.
