I was trippin when I saw the thread name. no way AIC should lower themselves to such garbage. However heard the show with the remaining members and various singers like maynard and the woman from heart was pretty cool.

No fucking way they should do that with AIC, or I should say AIC shouldn't participate. That would suck.

So with that said. Anyone know what Jerry C is up to lately?

    Rockon! and RIP Layne

Jerry has been working on his follow up album to Degradation Trip, and also playing gigs with Cardboard Vampyers his side project cover band with that guy out of The Cult, no news on when the new album will be out but hopefully around late spring, early summer.

and back on topic NO FUCKING WAY, save that shit for some crappy hair metal band like Poison or Extreme or Ugly Kid Joe or Van Halen you get the picture

    sounds like fun to me.
  • Yeah, why don't we just go all the way and do a Rockstar~Led Zepplin. Let's see if we can replace Bonham? Give me a break. I really don't see the remaining members participating in something like this. Layne was a very important part of the band, and there is no replacing him. I would really hate to see Van Halen fall into this kinda scheme, too!

Thats the worst idea I've heard in a long time. There'll only ever be one Layne Staley. To replace him would be a disgrace!
"...though my problems are meaningless....that don't make them go away...."
  • AIC never really was in the "light" in their prime! So, why are they wanting to put them on display now? Oh, I guess cuz their singer died.

  • I'll give Alice in Chains the benefit of my doubt. I don't think they are interested in ruining the AiC name. I just think their name came up as a "Possible" candidate from some slimeball tv exec. Its not hard to sit there listing off bands that need a new singer, but its a different story to actually find a band willing to completely sell out and be on the show.
  • i thinks its going to be Van Halen

why hopefully? it will probably be as bad as when they were TALK SHOW the first time weiland left, maybe worse cause that guy from filter sucks. that would be an appropriate name for the band though. . . from the sound of this thread, am i the only one who kinda likes that new inxs song?? it could be just a passing faze

Well, I know its confusing, but I said hopefully it will come out around June, because I am anticipating this album, and really want it to come out. Confusing, I know.

It also turns out, that I didn't love STP just for Scott. I loved the music that was written, and personally think that Talk Show was a pretty good album (although you're right, I wasn't a huge fan of Dave Coutts, but the music was still good). And only time will tell how good Patrick fits with the Deleo's, but hopefully it will turn out nicely.

The INXS Rockstar was so wrong on so many levels. I understand the remaining members wanted to move on and make music but most importantly, cash in. But come on, you're trying to replace Michael fucking Hutchence. That's not too easy to do. INXS was truly one of the greatest bands to come from the 80's. And Michael Hutchence was a latter day Jim Morrisson. Yes, you heard me right. And I think Jim Morrisson is a God. INXS was a band that just about anyone could appreciate.

This being said, Rockstar would work with some bullshit pop rock bands but not legit bands like INXS or AIC for God's sake. Sadly, I could see Van Halen working here now. They were on top of the world for a time, but they've become a joke in the last decade or so. Does Wang Chung need a new singer?

Why not Rockstar - Elvis! You get to try and replace - Elvis.

now i'm sure that you've all heard of rockstar INXS but how about a season 2 with the remaining members of ALICE IN CHAINS?
    any thoughts?
it's the first band that kicked into my head......
what other kick ass bands would work? having INXS on that shit was stupid!

    I would die.
cry and then curse Jerry Cantrell.

  • Alice in Chains are legends in what they accomplished while they were a band. If they think of getting a new singer I WILL BE PISSED OFF!!!!! Now if Jerry, Sean, and Mike want a new singer and want to start a totally different band and not call themselves Alice in Chains, that's fine...example, Rage Against the Machine got Chris Cornell and called themselves Audioslave...nothing wrong with that.

I dont think AIC needs a new lead singer.
Jerry Cantrell sang alot on the original AIC.
He could be lead singer if they wanted to keep going.
But I think they are done as a band. Sad but true.

  • First of all, AIC was not Layne. If it was anybody, it was Jerry Cantrell, considering that he wrote about 80% of the music, sang a good portion of it, and did all the guitars. I think it would be interesting.

Thank God it would never ever happen. Fortunately comparing INXS with Alice in Chains is like comparing the Ice Cube that does kids movies now to the Ice Cube that was in NWA.
    Which came first,
the bad idea or me befallen by it?

Rockstar ALICE IN CHAINS = NOOOOO fuckin WAY!!!

I agree with everyone else. There is NO replacing Layne. The A.I.C. magic forever lives on. I think it's cool that Jerry, Mike and Shaun play some shows together here and there but that's where it should end. Even then, the 3 of them still calling it Alice In Chains kinda weirds me out. I know Jerry was a HUGE part of A.I.C. but regardless of that fact, him and Layne together MADE A.I.C.

In my opinion, "Alice in Chains" in the present tense is simply not possible without Layne.
