In light of the recent Chili Pepper news I have heard more than a whisper of doubt expressed at the idea of a double album. So I got to thinking "Sure, Double-Albums can suck but wheh they are good they are unforgettable".
For instance, Mesmerize/Hypnotize - System Of A Down, Use Your Illusion l/ll - Guns 'N' roses, Melancholy And The Infinite Sadness - Smashing Pumpkins.
So my question for you guys is what other great Double-Albums are there?
PEACE

Yup *Smacks self*.
Also, just thought of this, what about Beneyora Hall?
I would count it and I really do think that on it's own is a CD that everyone should hear at least once.

That's not a double-album... it's a long one, but not a double !
Drive by Truckers - Southern Rock Opera
I am admittedly not a huge fan of the double album, with obvious exceptions, more often than not I find they don't work out too well.
imo Trent's best work haha

Wasn't "Tommy" originally a double album?
Indeed it was, I actually have an older CD copy that is on two discs, but the version that is out now is just a single CD. Kind of like how Blonde on Blonde was a double record set, but when released on CD it is just one disc.

Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness - Smashing Pumpkins
The Wall - Pink Floyd
In Your Honor - foo fighters
Bob Dylan's Greatest Hits Vol. 2 (not a real album... but amazinnnnng)
The White Album (zee first double album in fact)
Machina/Machina II - Smashing Pumpkins... not really a double album... it was going to be.. but after the sales from Adore flopped (despite it's own brilliance) that was too risky... so they just released the second part dubbed Machina II for free over the internet... really i think because of that most of the very best songs got shipped to Machina.. making it amazing... but lackign that balance that would prompt me to call it a double album.
the new Chili Peppers' record Stadium Arcadium will be...

Oh my, they dropped the leash.
Morgan Freeman/Clint Eastwood 08' for President!
"Make our day"
As she slams the door in his drunken face
And now he stands outside
And all the neighbours start to gossip and drool
He cries oh, girl you must be mad,
What happened to the sweet love you and me had?
Against the door he leans and starts a scene,
And his tears fall and burn the garden green
Man...but that's the best double album of all times!!! Excelent taste!!
-Tom Waits-
Everybody should believe in something...I believe i'll have another drink - anonymous -
