Makes me cry.

Red House Painters, Sun Kil Moon, his solo work... some of the most beautiful music I've ever heard. Certain moments in certain songs are like nothing else in the world. Almost too sad. Down Colorful Hill, Katy Song, Carry Me Ohio, Gentle Moon, Salvador Sanches, Around and Around... I don't know why but right now, Mark is the only guitar-based music I seem to be listening to.

Salvador Sanchez is simply the most amazing song I've heard for a long, long time.
"I remember one night at Muzdalifa with nothing but the sky overhead, I lay awake amid sleeping Muslim brothers and I learned that pilgrims from every land — every colour, and class, and rank; high officials and the beggar alike — all snored in the same language"

  • I am so glad you started this thread! Thanks!

I have been looking for a Red House Painters CD for a little while now and always come up empty. It never occurred to me that I should be looking for a solo project.

Anyway, as soon as I read it, I put my laptop down and off I went to the record store and bought his album. I'm listening to it now and I LOVE IT!!!!

    So, thanks! :)

Oh god, that album is so good. I love the versions of Carry Me Ohio and Salvador Sanchez, even if nothing can beat the Sun Kil Moon studio version of the latter. The sound quality of Little Drummer Boy is great. The reverb on his voice suits it so much.

Ghosts of the Great Highway by Sun Kil Moon is the way to go next. I prefer it to his Red House Painters stuff, although I believe most prefer his earlier work.

I don't have his solo (proper) work however that will change shortly. This kick I have been on for the past week or so will last for awhile.

Listening to Tiny Cities right now. I dunno, I enjoy it. Of course it isn't near the quality of Ghosts of the Great Highway but enjoyable nonetheless.

Jeremy you probably know about this already but just in case I saw this when I was looking at Liam Finn tickets earlier. He's playing London next month.

So are we strangers now? Like rock and roll and the radio?
