just picked up 1000 hurts today. other than it being quite novel to actually hear Steve Albini's voice properly (having been a Big Black fan for some time) I have to say that this album is brilliant. Prayer to God is an astonishingly vicious and pretty damn disturbing opener and, even though it doesn't really get back to that momentum for the rest of the album, it's absolutely great. any fans?

Hell yes. for the opening track alone. the rest is really good too. My other highlights are Squirrel Song and Canaveral.

Cool... maybe it's not too late to ask for a stocking stuffer. :)
