you go to the table before the show, pay for the poster and they will slap a wristband on you.
after the show, kindly return to the table, turn in your wristband, and they will present you with a poster.
Advice? Get there early and bring a taser.
But it could be completely different.
edit: I think night I was about 7. I think gates opened at 6:30 and I remember a lot of people waiting at the gates for them to open.

Gates here opened at 6:30. You go in. Anyone attending can go up to a souvinir stand and pay for a poster. They give you a wristband.
At the end of the show, you go to a stand (the same stand I believe), and present your wristband. They cut it off in exchange for a poster and you are on your way.

I may have gotten lucky with the 1st show I dont know, and the fact that the poster was virtually the same with slightly different coloring the second night might have made it more available later the 2nd night.
I would suggest getting in early. Especially based on the poster-hysteria at the MSG shows. It doesnt sound like the stands were very well organized there and it looks like there was some slippery business going on there.
