Foo Fighters / QOTSA gig last night

Anyone else go?
It was a private corporate gig for Blackberry....... amazes me that companies still spring for these gigs in our sucky economy!

Did those Queens punks bust out Born to Hula or The Bronze? those songs are really tickling me at the minute infact I'd summerise the situation by openly admitting and adhering to the fact that I fucking love them.

It was fun....most of the crowd was into the show, but there are always the scenesters that feel it is more important to snap photos of themselves/other hipsters instead of watching the show!
QOTSA were ok, but the Foos really kicked-ass...they played a 75-minute set....mostly hits, as well as "Young Man Blues".
Zach De la Rocha was backstage....woulda been cool if he played with one of the bands!
But I'll be fine (eventually) because the Foos were mighty amazing at the Love Ride last Sunday (and Grohl with ZZ Top!). An excellent Young Man's Blues there, too.
I so wanted to see this show :(.

Why do these bands play corporate gigs like this? I mean i really don't care, it's just that when i hear stuff like this i picture a bunch of old guys in suits standing around not caring about the bands playing. I know i'm probably way off but i've never attended one and just curious as to what the atmosphere is like.
The companies that hire bands to do private shows are usually younger-skewed, so you get a lot of people in their 20s-30s.
At the Blackberry show last week, more then 1/2 the crowd was made-up of contest winners, so there were some true fans. Many of the invited guests seemed more interested in the open bar, posing for photo's and giving each other high-fives to celebrate the fact that their crappy-paying marketing job finally got them a cool perk!
At another corp gig a few weeks ago, the event area was very huge, so they had to make an announcement for people to make their way to the stage when it came time for the band to play. Seems that no matter how radio-friendly a band may be, people are still drawn more to the open bar/networking action
I trust that being a GIT is a good thing?
