Saw the Stereophonics in L.A. last night

Such a great live band.....why they haven't become huge in the U.S. is beyond my grasp.

We saw them at Wembley Arena last year with 12,000 people, but last night's show in L.A. was at a 1,300 seater, and it wasn't sold out.

They have so many great rock anthems, and Kelly is a true rockstar.

Kudo's to them for plugging along in the U.S.....even with a few semi-hits, they are still unknown to the masses.

  • America is a really tough place for British bands (or any band for that matter) to break. I just wonder if bands who are big in their own country are a little bit complacent when it comes to putting the effort in in the US. Perhaps they have a nagging feeling in the back of their minds that they could be playing to much bigger audiences back home

I always found it odd that Coldplay made it big instead of Travis, and that Muse made it big, instead of Placebo or the Stereophonics.

Travis is one of my favourite bands (as are the Phonics) and that has always shocked me too. Travis and Colplay are very similar in terms of their general sound yet Coldplay is HUGE here and Travis still play at 2,000 capacity clubs.

Travis is one of my favorite bands as well. They are very nice fellas, and there is always such a sense of warmth at their gigs. Coldplay are prolly one of the worst live bands of alltime...take away their fancy "lasers" and they are nothing!

I do agree, although I think the same could be said of Travis who are possibly the most boring band on the planet.

Travis never uses anything fancy (at least in the U.S.).....Fran's sense of humor and interaction with the rest of the band is great.

Yeah, I meant the same as in that Travis are one of the worst live bands, simply becasue they are so dull - lazers might actually make them a bit more interesting :p

I dont think lasers would go well with their songs...and I've been rather disappointed with them over the past couple albums

I agree that the last few albums were weak, but they still do a great live show. "Blue Flashing Lights" is great to see live.

They might just distract you from their monotonous acoustic meanderings....or perhpas the lazers could guide you to the bar :D

Very true - I hate the smarmy grin he always has on his face, possibly the most punchable musician on the planet, well apart from Chad Kroegar....

That may be so, but don't pretend you wouldn't like to give this face a little dry slap! http://travispage.w.interia.pl/q-feb2000-05.jpg
