Mind-blowing live set from one of the best touring bands out there.

Probably a healthy dose of Sky Blue Sky material, but I've noticed they've mixed in a few more A.M. and Being There tunes lately.

Nels Cline is a fantastic lead guitarist. Glenn Kotche on drums is a treat, too. Jeff Tweedy has lightened up on-stage in the past couple of years. I think he takes himself a bit less seriously, and that makes for an even better Wilco show.

Enjoy! I can't wait to see them next weekend, myself.

This will be my first Wilco show. Can't wait! If you join the viachicago.org message board you can see some reviews from recent shows. It sounds like they've been doing a great job.

Have you been to any shows at the Palumbo Center before? I'm wondering how they are about cameras. I've done a little online research and it sounds like "officially" they don't allow ANY cameras, but I'm sure cameras make it in all the time. I figure I'll stick my digital camera in the inside pocket of my purse and play dumb if security notices anything. Wilco is find with non-flash photography, so that's not the issue (heh).

not sure, i haven't been to a concert here yet. a buddy of mine was at smashing pumpkins last week and got some awesome pictures...and he was in the pit so i don't know if they just didn't see him? but he was up close so who knows, but yeah, my friend took one to pumpkins so it's manageable.

This sounds doable. I've never had a security guard spend more than half a second checking out my purse at the Mellon Arena, so I can't imagine the security at the Palumbo Center will be any more vigilant.

    Have fun tonight!

    they rocked the house.

So I've been thinking for a while that Wilco may have passed Pearl Jam up for the title of my favorite band - they've officially made it to my number one spot after last night! My only disappointment was that I'm so used to be surrounded by crazy PJ fans singing along to every song and bopping their heads - the crowd around me last night wasn't quite as into it as I was. Not bad, just a little stiff.

Nels really is amazing. The guy is crazy. Normally I'm someone who pays most attention to the overall sound of a band in addition to lyrics and the lead voice, but with Nels and Glen in the band there's so much more going on with Wilco.

Oh, and I got my camera in with no problem. Naturally none of the photos came out, but I wasn't expecting much.
  • I'll be at the show tonight in Charlottesville.

    I can't wait!

I've been able to catch them once a year since 2004, so I was glad they were coming back through because I missed them earlier this year due to the birth of my son.

The setlists look incredible and I'm hoping they have something special in store for the last "regular" date of the North American tour.
  • Why aren't they playing "Either Way?" It's my favorite tune from the new album.

i did not, i had on just a regular collared shirt.

i saw another fan in a red pearl jam shirt, though. i almost said something. i had to wait outside for my friend who was getting there late, or else i was going to run up to my dorm and put on a PJ shirt...but i didn't. i'll have one on at bruce springsteen next month, though.

anyway, yeah - definitly up there in top live bands. fucking amazing show. flawless setlist, they didn't miss a note. jeff tweedy is also fucking hilarious...telling the cleveland & pittsburgh fans to fight, taunting the venue because they didn't serve beer, making fun of the guy who got in trouble for dancing. great show.

my buddy saw them in detroit recently. he's seen more concerts than anyone i know and he said it was one of the best shows he's ever seen by anybody... period. and he's not a HUGE wilco fan. judging by those setlists they are really stretching things out nowadays.

I need to see these guys again. I have seen them before, but they OPENED for sheryl Crow. I saw them in their early days, and it was right before the 2nd album came out. Hearing these reviews makes me need to get my ass to a show and experience Wilco the right way, LOL. Do they still have the alternative country sound or have they branched out more? I remember them having a sound similar to old 97s.

I'm a bit jealous of last night's show. I really wanted to hear "Casino Queen" and "It's Just that Simple." I really love the old songs - and this is from someone who has only been a fan for about 2 years.

the dancing guys were 3 or 4 rows behind me. tweedy was hilarious, especially the cleveland thing. i did see the guy with the red pj shirt, he was behind the guys who got yelled at for dancing, but i don't remember how far. i really wanted a beer that night, it bummed me out. it was weird with not having everyone singing along. by the way, 15 bucks for a t shirt (pearl jam please take note). i'm not going to bruce, i can't stand him. i was in d.c. last night for the pens game, wow what a turnout there. big rally after the game, and someone got the living shit beat out of them. it was awesome! what a weekend!

I think the first Charlottesville recording (the 4022s) sounds better after downloading them both.

And I will NEVER cease to be amazed that in today's world I can listen to multiple versions of a show I was at the very next day.

Why aren't they playing "Either Way?" It's my favorite tune from the new album.

We got that song as the opener in Atlanta back in June.

They also opened with it in Tallahassee about a year and a half ago. It was weird being at their show that night and hearing an unreleased song open the show.

Here's hoping they play Either Way AND Hoodoo Voodoo in New Orleans this weekend!
