My Doorbell (Get Behind Me Satan), Hypnotize (Elephant), Offend in Every Way (White Blood Cells), Why Can't You Be Nicer to Me (De Stijl), and St. James Infirmary (The White Stripes). A song from each cd.
If I could, think I would give in.

    go to http://www.redcandycane.net/

click on "media" and "bootlegs". download the "live in boston 2003" show. it's their 4/20/03 show from the orpheum theatre in boston. i was there - the show was brilliant, and you get a good cross-section of all of their albums (up through elephant).

I'd start with Elephant or DeStijl. I love every album except for Get Behind Me Satan which I like but don't love. It wouldn't hurt to start with The White Stripes and buy them in order. All good stuff.
I wish I was as fortunate, as fortunate as me.

Links seem to be broken for bootleg downloads.

If you want to "get into" the White Stripes all you need to do is watch the DVD under the Blackpool Lights. the cover of Jolleen is fucking amazing. You will be hooked.
are you getting something out of this all encompassing trip?

can't escape from the common rule if you hate something, don't you do it too

That cover is also on their website but I'll second this. I just got into them and started with Get Behind Me Satan and then moved onto Elephant before getting the DVD. I picked a weird order but I love them now. I'd say starting with Elephant is easier than GBMS.

Agreed. Amazing stuff. And, no, I don't love Get Behind Me Satan. I need to hear Jack wailing on the guitar a little more.
