    i truly believe that if 9/11 and this war didn't happen that PJ would probably still be going for the No Code/Yield/Binaural experimentation trail. i honestly think the unjust in the world has taken eddie and the boys back to a place where they understand they are in a position to be heard... at which point they decided to get back to rocking, and spreading a message - whether it be more in the mainstream eye or not...

    I think Pearl Jam would have had no inspiration to make good music anymore, so they would either make crap music or break up. So thank god for 9/11.

    I don't think they would have been too much different than they are now. They have always been political. And if you go back and listen to 1998 boots, Ed bags on Clinton quite a bit. The political songs on Binaural (Grievance, Insignificance, etc.) were done before Bush was president.

    There's no doubt Riot Act was a dark record.....but alot of that was down to Rockslide too as well as the political situation....

    My Dad is a hard core conservative and he will always have a one-sided view and would never even considerer a liberal idea (even if it makes complete sense).

    I feel Ed has the same way of thinking, but for a liberal stance (duh). So I figure the themes would be the same.

    I kind of feel sorry for both my Dad and Ed that they refrain from having an open mind on issues. It is very difficult for them to even consider the other sides point of view (plus, it drives my Mom nuts).

    That said, I love them both.
