Anyone on here like Jimmy Eat World? I've been a big fan of theirs since 2000 and am excited to see them again in July. Last time they were here my buddy and I ended up playing ping pong with Jim and Tom after their show...super random. But, drunk shenanigans were had by us all and they are super friendly guys. I even had them autograph the ping pong ball we played with.

Haha, that's awesome. I recently got into JEW, last year to be precise... the new record is really fantastic. It was good at first, but it's grown a lot on me. Great band that gets a lot of bad rep.
If I could, think I would give in.

Nice! If you ever get a chance to see them live, I definitely recommend it. Their EP Stay On My Side Tonight is awesome too.

Yeah, I'd really love to see them, but I really only have one friend that likes 'em... and when they were touring, we were both in two different areas, so it was kinda hard. I'm trying to make my other friends at least listen to them and see how things go from there.. jerks!

Saw them at Reading. Good stuff. Great live.

The Middle has to be one of the best pop songs ever.

Saw them last year at a small theater here in Dallas. I think Futures is their strongest record. Solid live show.

They are the band that gets the worst reputation in music today.

They are slightly poppy, but no more than "Betterman" and "Last Kiss" was.

    Very talented and very good.

    Top 5 band for me.

    Chase This Light is fantastic!

They have a bad a reputation? I was under the impression that, of their sort of genre, they were the most respected? I mean, yeah they are pop-punky but people don't tend to consider them on the same level as like, Blink 182 and New Found Glory do they?

They got two sets at the same festival last year at Reading and there were all sorts of different types of people watching.

Nah I don't think they're that low, and five years ago definitely not. But these last two haven't helped their 'emo' image. I freaking love Futures though. Very sentimental album. But yes in general they're a great band and I like it all, esp clarity.

Well, the fact that I never gave them a chance until well after FUTURES was released kind of shows where their repuatation is.

I am not saying their rep as in "are they talented," I am talking about their "emo" rep. It's sad they fit in the same category as FALL OUT BOY and PANIC AT THE DISCO.

JEW has talent and is actually a really good live band.

  • Anyone checked out the new record yet?  Very solid stuff, I'd go so far to say it might be their best since Futures :)

Just finished listening. Overall good. Surviving and Congratulations stood out for me. 555 kinda sucked though.
  • 555 is growing on me!  I'm really liking Recommit at the moment, Surviving is a great opener.
