Its been 10 years and it still kicks ass.
34 minutes of 14 songs played at a breakneck pace.
Perhaps one the most under rated albums and it's difficult to name a fave tune off it.
All new Green Day fans of American Idiot shouldn't miss out on this gem.
It is brilliant!!!
I had it all once I gave it back

i have a real problem, i cannot stand american idiot at all, if i was a dictator i would have it removed from my country, but i always thought i liked the older stuff like dookie, but i listened againg, and i really dont care for it. the only songs i seem to like these days is fountain of youth and time of your life
I wish my grass was emo... so then it would cut itself

  • American Idiot might not have been great, but it had a great song come off of it!

Jesus of Suburbia is one of the best songs in 05.

ure not alone...greenday's version of punk is too redundant. i cant get into it anymore. its also telling that the 2 songs u mentioned as being those u still like are not their 'typical' sounding ones, if u know what i mean.

As I grow old I notice I like punk music more and more... but Green Day I just can't stand 'em anymore. I was there when they achieved success with Dookie, loved that album, but now I really think it pales compared with some other punk acts that, in my view, are great. I have that tape but don't go back to it at all, I can rock to some of those tunes when they're played on the radio or at a club, but just in honor of the old days... their newer stuff doesn't appeal to me anymore... now, just yesterday I got "Energy" by Operation Ivy, that's a really good punk album, I just can't see myself listening to Green Day with the passion that Johnny Thunders or Operation Ivy awake in me.
Stone: Thanks for the pick and the night of complicity, you rock!

  • this is a great album indeed. i was disapointed the only songs played live off it this past year of touring was brain stew/jaded. i would love to hear more of insomniac live, but i wont hold my breath.
i think my fav song off insomniac is either 86 or bab's uvula who?

btw, i got an insomniac poster signed by green day :) i picked that poster to get signed cause it was the tour for that album when i attended my first real concert. i was like 12 or 13, at maple leaf gardens.

I never really liked this album and still don't, but I did listen to Dookie for the first time in like three years last week and loved it, who knew
