Since you are looking for an opinion here I feel it is my duty to give mine.

I think Mark Wahlberg is a great actor but that movie blew on so many levels.

Spinal Tap rocks Steel Dragon's socks off. No question about it.

Besides, the movies aren't really that much alike. I'm not sure if Rock Star was supposed to be funny, because it wasn't. Spinal Tap is always funny. If you want to see Mark Wahlberg play a musician in a good movie watch Boogie Nights. It's way better.

    You are nuts.
You have to enjoy the movie for what it is. A silly spoof on 80's hair bands.
It was great! I own it on DVD and my wife and I watch it all the time.
We laugh our ass off every time. Mark W. did a great job in my opinion.
He looked cool at the end with the Mid 90's Vedder length hair cut.
Oh and Jennifer Aniston looks smoking hot!
    Good Times.
Get em a Body Bag Yeeeeeaaaaa!

Agreed. It's a funny ass flick. Just not CLASSIC like Spinal Tap. She doesn't even try to be hot in it.

This must be a trick question -- the best movie band isn't from the movies at all! The Zack Attack from Saved by the Bell kicked ass :D -- Screech Powers on keys??? AC Slater on drums??

But if this is truly an either/or vote - Spinal Tap w/o question. 'Hosin' down your barn door...plowin' thru yer beanfield...sniffin' at yer feed bag...'and on and on blah blah. Classic.

Hell yes! Sex Farm Woman. And who can forget these lyrics "my baby fits me like a flesh tuxedo, I like to sink her with my pink torpedo" from Big Bottom.

There are very few peers to Spinal Tap in terms of comic genius in a movie.
