to be honest I don't want to see it. Take every album ever released by a 90's "alternative" band, every album that has songs played regularily on classic rock radio, anything that anyone from seattle ever touched or knew someone who did, and there you have it.

You know us so well, Echoes.:)
I think it would depend on who voted Echoes, if everyone who sticks mostly to the porch were to vote then yeah it would probably work out like that, but I think there is a reasonable amount of diversity in taste amongst the people who post regularly in here.

Here are some ideas I have on how this could work we set a deadline date for the votes to be in by, no best of's or live albums to be included, each person who chooses to take part ranks their 10 favourite albums 1 - 10, the number 1 album scores 10 points, then the score slides down 2nd place gets nine etc, etc to the tenth place album scoring 1 point, then come the deadline date the scores are added up and ranked accordingly.
    What do you think?:)

Another MB I read does this yearly and it is very big and they have some rules. And some people running it who spend a ton of time compiling the results.

-Everybody list their top 25+ albums, anywhere up to 100, but no less than 25, no more than 100.
    -Everybody's #1 album vote is worth 100 points, #2 99.....#100 1.
-Somebody(or somebodyS) would keep an ongoing count of the results so they didn't have to sit down at the end and count them all up
-It would last for a few weeks or something
-Peal Jam albums couldn't count. Almost everybody would put most of them in their top 50 or so albums list, even if not many people had them at #1, it would still add up to have a top 5 of all PJ

also, they have a thing where everybody has 25 extra points to give out. When you make your list you can give 25 extra points anyway you want, for example:

    1. Radiohead - Pablo Honey
    2. Stone Temple Pilots - No. 4 (+15)
    3. Nelly - Country Grammer(+10)

So #2 would get 15 bonus points and #3 would get 10.

Oh, and decide from the start if compilations and live albums count or not.

It is an incredibly efficient system and the results are always interesting. If the people who want to run this poll had the time to do it in this format, I highly recommend it. Just throwing it out there if a few people are really into the idea of getting a top 100.

I'm not tallying them either. It was just a suggestion for the people(s) who ARE going to be running it. If you get 3-5 people, create a thread with the rules on the first post and the only other posts would be people's list, you could divide up the tallying duties by page between the 3-5 people working on it. It would be pretty simple that way, let people respond for, say, 2 weeks and then close the thread, have one person collect all of the data from the various tallyers and compile into one final list of however many albums received significant points.
