Sad poster story

I knew for a long time that I picked up a few 98ny poster's. Now back then I didn't know any better I just thought it looked cool and I knew it would collect dust over time. I moved twice, and in the process I did find 2 of the NY98 in great shape.....but I couldn't find the third. I think over time I accepted the fact that I only pick up 2 not 3 until today. I have tons of old school poster that I use to have on my walls from Cindy Crawford, Minneosta Vikings, and random Pearl jam ones. Today I decided to go through them all and as I was unrolling them what falls out? A dusty NY98. Wow my heart sank when I saw the condition it was in.....the right corner is torn off (picture not harmed) very dusty, it was still rolled up but you can see pressure marks on it and the back is very dirty with some kind of stain. For the most part if it was flatten and framed just right it will look perfect. The main picture in 100% intact just with minor roll marks on it. I almost wish I didn't find it. I will try to post pictures soon. :(

Man that really sucks. I had something similar happen to me a few years ago. I had all my old baseball and football cards in a brown bag in my closet for years. When I was clearing out the closet I decided to go through them. I found two Barry Sanders rookie cards and a bunch of others that were pretty valuable but were completely destroyed. I wound up throwing them all out. Wish I never went through that bag.

    It's A Poster!

I kind of think it's a happy poster story...

You didn't think you had a NY 98... and now you do... and it should frame out well.

    Besides...you have three of them?

    Where is this sad?

I guess you can look at it that way.....but you can understand where I am coming from though. I mean for people who do collect posters this means nothing but so someone who loves...it hurts.

I am getting a lot of PM's and most likely I will trade it away just trying to get pics up first.

Let's see...you thought you had NO third poster at all, but instead you find that you DO have a third poster, albeit in less-than-great condition.

What would you rather have, NO poster or a damaged poster??

On top of that, it looks like you might be trading it for something. Thus, to sum things up, you began the day thinking you had no third poster, found out that you do, and might end up with money or another PJ item instead.

So today you gained either (a) a very cool (but damaged) PJ poster; (b) money; or (c) a new PJ item to add to your collection.

How the hell is this a "sad" poster story????

Just to see it in that condition hurts
Ask anyone who loves posters....even if they have 5 DC if one was in bad shape I am sure they would still cringe....regardless of how many they have.
And yea, knowing that it is extra I do want to trade it but....still sad. I am just saying see any 98 in bad shape sucks, and knowing I let it get that way.

Well maybe its just me then.....I'll crawl back in my hole.

And now we are trading these sentimental posters away? I see now it is only sad that they aren't worth as much $$$$ anymore.

My buddy and I each got the Hartford 98 poster. While mine is still in the shape I got it in, my friend while moving multiple times over the past years, accidently put a tear in his. Thinking it was ruined and not knowing the rarity of this poster, he just threw it away! Now when I see something like out of 450 for the production run, I really think out of 449!

My stl 98 poster has thumb tack holes, tape residue, pressure indentations, creases, a couple of tears and is one of only two posters I own. The poster collectors would really cry to see the something still intact and usable but not mint.
The poster wasn't an investment when I bought it, wasn't an investment when I hung it up in my first apartment, and isn't an investment now. I hope most people actually hang up their posters to get some enjoyment out of them.

I almost threw away my Kansas CIty 98... it was in a pile of empty tubes, I'm pretty glad I checked the tubes before throwing them in the dumpster!
