Just saw Wilco live for the first time last night...I must say, the show blew me away!! They played in a tiny theatre in Fredericton that only holds about 750 people....and boy did they ever rock out! Jeff Tweedy is Amazing!
I will definitely be going to see them the next chance I get!

    im definitely looking forward to seeing them at lollapalooza. only shame is they probly wont get to play a full set.
  • I've seen Wilco 4 times, each time in a larger venue and each time they got better and better. They'll be playing at Tall Stacks in Cincinnati in October so I'll be able to see them again.

    I met Jeff at the venue the second time I saw them. He was a cool dude.

    I saw them at alderney landing in Dartmouth on wednesday. I was very impressed!
    So I bid farewell to the Eastern town I never more will see;
    But work I must so I eat this dust and breathe refinery.
    Oh I miss the green and the woods and streams and I don't like cowboy clothes;
    But I like being free and that makes me an idiot I suppose.

    It is great to see Wilco develop such a great following over the years. I saw them back in 96 right before the release of their 2nd disc, they opened for Sheryl crow.

    They are a great live band i compare them favorably to pearl jam. I've seen them 3 times.

    When i saw them in athens ga a couple months ago they played 3 new songs.

    they usually play two to three new songs a night. Walken is played at almost every show now that song just rocks.

    My buddy was at the montreal show and they said that they are gonna get an album out after this tour and they may even put out another album before they hit the road again. I guess the creative juices are flowin.

    I saw Wilco twice on the Ghost tour. They blew me away each time.

    Wilco and Pearl Jam are my two favorite touring bands right now. No one brings the rock quite like they do. as of right now, Wilco in Maryland last summer remains my all time favorite concert. It was epic.

    I'm sure Tom Waits will easily take that spot when I see him next month, though.

    I saw them here in Calgary about three weeks ago. Incredible show! It was my 3rd time seeing them and it was probably one of the best rock shows I've ever seen. Tweedy was in fine form, and the new songs are amazing. Their current lead guitarist (Nels Cline) is insanely good.
    "I try my best to chug, stomp, weep, whisper, moan, wheeze, scat, blurt, rage, whine, and seduce. With my voice I can sound like a girl, the boogieman, a Theremin, a cherry bomb, a clown, a doctor, a murderer. I can be tribal. Ironic. Or disturbed. My voice is really my instrument."

    I'm a little late for this tread... but i saw Wilco live for the first time in July here in London and they blew me away. I managed to get front row in front of Nels. Best live show I have ever been to.

    Jeff Tweedy Decks Rowdy Fan at Wilco Show

    According to an anonymous Pitchfork reader, Tweedy punched a rowdy fan in the face about 30 minutes into Wilco's set yesterday evening. "So some dude jumps on the stage," the reader claims. "After he gets on stage (who really does this at a Wilco show?), he runs up to Tweedy to give him a fat smooch on his cheek.

    "Tweedy freaks out like the retard from [There's] Something About Mary who doesn't like having his ears touched and grabs the dude by his throat. While clinching to his throat, Jeff hauls off and decks him with a punch/open hand slap/shove to the face and [the] dude skirmishes away. Tweedy later apologizes (sort of) and hurries to the point of the set where they bow out before the encore."

    I would say without a shadow of doubt it is Yankee Hotel Foxtrot....

    as you can see though with them it is personal taste becasue their albums due change somewhat over time.

    any validity to that tweedy punch story?

    So is this shit for real? Hagin, who was the production manager for the show, gave an official confirmation of the story. Then he explained, "To give you a little background here, I went down from St. Louis to promote the show at the Shrine Mosque in Springfield. And it's not a venue that does a lot of shows. They're nice people and everything but the security was not what we would normally want to see I guess. And I'm not blaming it on them or anything.

    I was supposed to see them up at MSU about a week ago but couldnt get the money too. My buddy went and he said they played a good amount of new stuff and that it was amazing. So im pretty pumped for their new stuff and if they come close any time soon ill be at that show for sure. I love Wilco and if you havnt heard any of Jeff's solo stuff you should check it out.

    Several new Wilco songs have been making their way into the setlists since the Spring Tour began. Word is that a new album will be recorded this winter and released in the spring of '07.

    The recording process probably means they will be off the road once the string of current dates is over.

    As for their best work, my opinion is that you've got to hear the progression from A.M-->Being There-->Summerteeth in order to appreciate the brilliance of Yankee Hotel Foxtrot and A Ghost Is Born. Kicking Television is a glimpse of how they bring it all together live.

    In short, listen to everything Wilco. You'll be better for it.
