If you were to tell someone you loved how you felt through music, what would be the songs on the CD you burn? About 13 songs, plus or minus 5.

I really like that song but based on the lyrics i tend not to think of it as a love song. Who am i to decide what a song means to someone. I used to think of it as a love song then a girl i was dating pointed out the "A Simple prop to occupy my time" is not much of a loving thing to say espcially when you have "left them behind"

I'll hae to think hard about some good love songs but one i know would be on my disc would be

    Neil Young's- Harvest Moon

I've never seen The One I Love by REM as a love song, the same way that I don't see Betterman as a lovesong.

Of course, everyone is allowed their own interpretation, but the line "A simple prop to occupy my time" makes it impossible for me to consider it a love song. I've always seen it as quite a bitter and resentful song, but I still love it.

you've got an awfully strange definition of love ;)

The one I Love is not a love song, sorry. *shrugs*

Into My Arms is obviously though... what do you mean by 'skag' ?

See, the funny thing with REM songs, they don't publish the lyrics with the CDs and I can't understand with Michael Stipe is saying. I didn't realize it wasn't a love song. Funny that ;)

Maybe a simple distraction to focus on the now instead of love?

Yet another gem from AC / DC now this says love / lust on so many levels!

    The Jack

    She gave me the Queen
    She gave me the King
    She was wheelin' and dealin'
    Just doin' her thing
    She was holdin' a pair
    But I had to try
    Her Deuce was wild
    But my Ace was high
But how was I to know
That she'd been dealt with before
Said she'd never had a Full House
    But I should have known
From the tattoo on her left leg
And the garter on her right
She'd have the card to bring me down
    If she played it right

    She's got the Jack
    She's got the Jack
    She's got the Jack
    She's got the Jack
    She's got the Jack
    She's got the Jack
    She's got the Jack
    She's got the Jack
She's got the Jack, Jack, Jack,
    Jack, Jack, Jack, Jack
    She's got the Jack

    Poker face was her name
    Poker face was her nature
    Poker straight was her game
If she knew she could get you
    She play'd 'em fast
    And she play'd 'em hard
    She could close her eyes
    And feel every card
But how was I to know
    That she'd been shuffled before
Said she'd never had a Royal Flush
    But I should have known
That all the cards were comin'
From the bottom of the pack
    And if I'd known what
    she was dealin' out
    I'd have dealt it back

    She's got the Jack
    She's got the Jack
    She's got the Jack, And
    who knows what else?
She's got the Jack, yeah, yeah
    [ Lyrics provided by http://www.mp3lyrics.org ]
    She's got the Jack
    She's got the Jack
    She's got the Jack
    She's got the Jack
She's got the Jack, Jack, Jack,
    Jack, Jack, Jack, Jack
    She's got the Jack
    She's got the Jack
    She's got the Jack, Ooh,
    was a bad deal, Jack
She gave me the Jack hey
    She's got the Jack, She's
    got the Jack, She's got
    the Jack
    Ooh, can't ya tell?
She's got the Jack, Jack, Jack,
    Jack, Jack, Jack, Jack
She's got the Jack, She's got the Jack
She's got the Jack, She's got the Jack
You Never know! She's got the Jack
She's got the Jack, She's got the Jack
She's got the Jack, and it hurts!
    She's got the Jack
She's got the Jack, Jack, Jack,
    Jack, Jack, Jack, Jack
    She's got the Jack
    AAAAAAAAAAAAH!
    Oooooh!
    Thank you, thank you, Thank
    you people, Thank you,
    Thank you
    I'm glad you like the
    show, yes, thank you very
    much folks.

Into My Arms is obviously though... what do you mean by 'skag' ?
as fins already said for me, skag is slang for heroin. I always thought the song was perhaps directed towards heroin as the "love" that he wants to be directed into his arms but I was partly joking until I read an interview recently where Cave said the entire Boatman's Call album was written in a hotel room smacked off his face... so I reckon I'm right.

I recorded a cover of it a few months back... it was shite :D
so, monkees show version or Starsailor version? I personally can't decide. the acoustic version is lovely but the eerie backong vocals wails on the album version are incredible.

Starsailor, by millions of miles. I think that's the most devastating vocal in rock history, bar none, though Sandy Denny's BBC Sessions version of Who Knows Where The Time Goes - rough as it might be around the edges - has comparable emotional power.

It's amazing how different Buckley's voice was when Starsailor came around. or rather how differently he used the voice he had. the monkees version doesn't even sound like the same man.

also, the starsailor has the "new born child" part which is just amazing :)
