CD Skips

My CD player that's 7 years old is starting to skip on CDs a lot. I dust the CDs off, but this skipping is new. Dusting them off seems to work, but is this also a sign of age with the CD player? It's not just one CD. What does it mean when the CD player skips a lot?

the cd player i have now i think was bought in junior high... so it's gotta be 10 years old or so. it does skip sometimes. im gonna get a new one next year.

does anyone know how, where, or how much it would cost to get one of those cd cleaners? not the ones that wipe them off but the ones that buff them and sand them or whatever? i feel like that would be a wise long term investment for me.
