New Help with Title/Album/Artist

I run really well to two songs I don't have, but were on the radio a lot in the late 90s. I know some of the words, and the groups may be Limp Bizkit and 311, but I'm not sure:

First:

Wish you would step back from that ledge my friend.
You can cut ties with all the lies that you've been living in.
etc etc
I will underSTANNNNNND

Title/Album/Group?

Second:

I tried so hard something something something
in the end it doesn't even matter.
something something someting lose control (?)
but in the end in doesn't even maaaatttteeeer.

    oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.
