I am really digging the new single, but don't know much about their albums. Can anybody give me a suggestion on which album I should pop my coldplay cherry?
I used to hate Pearl Jam but now I see the Light Years.

I like X&Y best too. Parachutes has more of an acoustic feel to it. Rush of Blood to the Head is a strong record from start to finish, but X&Y has some different stuff on it that I like alot. I'm not sure why but that album has been the one that has appealed to me most out of their albums.
  • parachutes is an amazing debut album. love it start to finish. a rush of blood to the head. they'll never top that one.
  • thanks for the help

Where did you get it? It's not supposed to release until the 17th.

Agreed, focus on these two albums, before they start trying to be too clever. Everything after that is kind of a joke.

I'm digging the new one... Lovers in Japan/Reign of Love, and Viva la Vida are my early favs. The new single is rockin' (well, forColdplay)

You can listen to the entire album (legally) here:

  • In order from best to worst:

    1. A Rush of Blood to the Head
    2. Parachutes

    3. X&Y - terribly dull.

Haven't listened to Viva La Vida yet, so not sure where it ranks yet

I bought the new cd yesterday (it is supposed to be released on monday, but I found it yesterday though...).
I listened to it twice and it sounds very good until now. I need a few more listens before having a clear opinion, but it sounds great and the production is very good.

  • Chris Martin seems a bit insecure lately - dunno what's up with him. This is all a bit infantile....

I haven't really liked any of their stuff since "Parachutes", though. They seemed to get very dull and turgid very quickly. Maybe this new one (produced by Brian Eno...) will be better.

Agreed. I am loving this album. Better than Parachutes, Rush, or X&Y. (I actually really like all 3 of those as well). However Viva La Vida is on another level.
