Sept 25, 2007 I got a kidney stone, worst pain in my life but from what I heard I passed it quickly about 3 hours.

9pm last night i get the same pain went to the hospital and find I have yet another one. This one is a stubborn I am still trying to pass it....I was in sever pain lastnight but not that bad now. I am driniking plenty of fluids taking meds but from what docs are saying this may take a few days to pass.

Now I have both tickets for MSG, soooooo do I go and and fight the pain? Or do I sit this one out? Now those of you who never had a kidney stone will say suck it up.....but those who had one know that pain I am in. Doc's say its the equivelent to guys having a baby.....only my baby is 4mm big :).

Any doc's on this board can give me advice? Do I take the Vicatine to the show? Hmmmm

    What would you do
If you were asked to give up your dreams for freedom
    What would you do
If asked to make the ultimate sacrifice

Would you think about all them people
Who gave up everything they had.
Would you think about all them War Vets
And would you start to feel bad

    Freedom isn't free
It costs folks like you and me
And if we don't all chip in
    We'll never pay that bill
    Freedom isn't free
No, there's a hefty fuckin' fee.
And if you don't throw in your buck 'o five
    Who will?

    What would you do
If someone told you to fight for freedom.
    Would you answer the call
Or run away like a little pussy
'Cause the only reason that you're here.
Is 'cause folks died for you in the past
So maybe now it's your turn
    To die kicking some ass

    Freedom isn't free
It costs folks like you and me
And if we don't all chip in
    We'll never pay that bill
    Freedom isn't free
    Now there's a have to hook'in fee
And if you don't throw in your buck 'o five
    Who will?

You don't throw in your buck 'o five. Who will?
    Oooh buck 'o five
Freedom costs a buck 'o five

Hey, you can be just like Kramer. Going to the garden trying to pass stones. Too bad the circus isn't in town.
    Good Luck

First off, if your going, make sure your with somone you trust and not somebody who will just ditch you on street corner so he can get inside to rock out to the show.

Honestly, it depends on your pain threshold. I would honestly drink a ton of fluids to try and pass it ASAP.

Beer (in moderation, even my doc told me that it would help), Cranberry juice, and tons of water are advisable.

I have had 3 in the last 5 years, they are not fun and the first one was the worst. Felt like someone was sawing my stomach in 1/2.

Good luck, get well and take care.

Honestly, my dad has had kidney stones so I know they hurt like hell... I'd say sit this one out just to be safe...

I've had one and would go but that's just me. Being there would override the pain better than any drug. :) Plus, you're going to have the pain regardless.
I know some that have had treatments to break the stone up, so maybe ask your doctor about it? Good luck whatever you decide. :)

  • Kidney stones, at least for me, were the most unimaginable pain I have ever experienced but it can vary depending on what kind of stone you have and of course, the size. What's weird is my dr said mine were as small as a grain of salt but the horrible tightening, contracting pain from them was enough to make me ball up in a fetal position and cry.

Get some of this. It really helps:

I don't know, as much as I love PJ, I do NOT love not being in control of my pain & in a public environment. Of course, if I were feeling no pain I guess it would be a different story.

My husband's doctor told him to buy two six packs and pee the stone out.

Holy s----, I understand. I went to Va. Beach show on Tuesday while a tooth was dying and was in ginormous pain. However, for 3 hours I felt no pain at all because of adrenaline and being in the 6th row helped too. Got a partial root canal on Fri. and went to DC with a swollen face and lots of vics. There was no way I was going to miss these shows!!! So shoot me, I'm obsessed.

Shit I was in the fetal position all night. I begged them to put me out they wouldn't.....they did give morphine, which was awesome. I tell I was touched by god.... but when it wore off nothing but vomiting. Which was nasty being that I haven't vomited in 17 years....so that was a nice suprise.

If you can take the pain, I say "go for it!" My husband had one summer before last, stubborn sucker that ended up needing basket surgery, and (my hero), came home from surgery and drove us to Florida. Get yourself some good (legal) pain meds, stay off the sauce, drink tons of water, and see the show!

BTW, I have had a kidney stone and a baby, and I must say that the kidney stone hurt worse! Tho, it might be the fact that someone was on hand for the baby with a great big needle of pain meds. :)

    Take care,
I still want you all to "take care"--I am just damn tired of typing it.

i've had a kidney stone, and depending on where it is in your system, i'd have to say there's no fucking way i could have gone to a show...

if you're past the morphine stage, and it's moved from your kidney down to your bladder (that's where most of the pain is, that little trip right there), you should be ok on meds and gatorade....
