Alright - I gotta admit, I haven't listened to much My Morning Jacket... if I were to go drop five dollars downloading five songs - as an introductory course, what would you suggest?

I need five songs people...

    I like them, but only have listened to their newest album, Z. Off of that I would get "Off The Record", "Gideon" and "Lay Low"

    you dont need to spend $$$ download this show...its free and you have 2 full cd's, its from an fm broadcast so the sound is great. after that go buy their cd's

    if you can find Tyrone .... an Erykah Badu cover. It`s one some early recordings disc i found to download.

    They hardly ever play it, if ever but the version is sweet ass....

    run thru- it still moves
    Golden- It still moves
    Lay Low-Z
    Sooner- choclolate & ice EP or the Acoustica Citsuoca EP

    I think that it still moves has some of their best songs, but Z is a very cohesive and flowing album their best complete effort in my opinion. At Dawn also has some good songs, and i do not have their other full length yet. I think those 5 songs gives you a good idea of their rockin side and their softer acoustic driven side.

    Well... I just downloaded the entire "It Still Moves" album, and I must say that it is growing on me and is a great, peaceful album playing in the background as I work. Pretty cool...

    It still doesn't "grab" me like Drive By Truckers stuff does though... This Jim Jones guys has a pretty sweet voice.

    Favorites off of It Still Moves so far are:

    Master Plan
    Run Thru
    One Big Holiday

    They grew on me. I did not love them immediatly then they smacked me in the face one day and it was great.

    Jim James has a good voice too ;)

    His voice actually really shines on Z.
