While We Cry/Yellow Ledbetter

Does anyone know the Kenny Wayne Shepherd song "While We Cry"? It is an instumental song with the exact same chord progression, guitar style, and general mood of Yellow Ledbetter. And the album is appears on is called "Ledbetter Heights." Does anyone know if there is a connection?

dunno, but i believe YL is just a standard type of blues progression anyway.

Do a search, I know it's been brought up before.

I remember hearing this song and it is EXACTLY like YL. Not similar, the same song. At least the beginning.

I do like "while we cry" but don't know of any relation except both blues-type songs.

I've heard "While We Cry", and my guess is that he DID rip it off from "Yellow Ledbetter." He was really young when he did that, and that would be my guess as to a reason why. KWS hadn't developed enough as a songwriter on his own at that point.

I don't know what Ledbetter Heights is, or what a Yellow Ledbetter is, but Hudie Ledbetter is blues/folk artist Leadbelly's ("In the Pines") real name.

I have this cd and the first couple of times I heard it I thought he was actually covering Yellowledbetter. It does sound very similar though. KWS is a kick ass guitar player. Great talent at a young age!!
