I like surf music and want to get some more exposure to it but I don't know where to start. What are some good bands that play some surf music? Describe their style as well if you can. Thanks!

Local band in Portland Or. They should have some records or samples available online if you google them. I saw them along time ago and they were good. They wear these super nice clothes with capes on them. Very Dick Dale influenced.

Also Gary Hoey from the Endless summer II soundtrack is decent as well.

well, uhh.. hate to date myself but the original surf music was dick dale, beach boys (for chrissakes they recorded a ton of songs with the word 'surf' or 'surfin' or 'surfer' as part of the title!!) and, one of my favorites, Jan and Dean who recorded 'Surf City' ..

'i got a 54 wagon and we call it a woodie
... surf city here we come
well it ain't got a back seat but it sure is a goodie
... surf city here we come
well it ain't got a back seat or rear window
but it sure gets me where i wanna go...

goin' to surf city where's it's two to one
    ... woooo hooo
goin' to surf city gonna have some fun

    ... woo oooo

goin' to surf city where's it's two to one
    ... woooo hooo
goin' to surf city gonna have some fun

    TWO GIRLS FOR EVERY BOY...
Down the street you can hear her scream youre a disgrace
As she slams the door in his drunken face
    And now he stands outside
And all the neighbours start to gossip and drool
He cries oh, girl you must be mad,
What happened to the sweet love you and me had?
Against the door he leans and starts a scene,
And his tears fall and burn the garden green

I forgot about the obvious 2 that you mentioned.

Also I think the Butthole Surfers might not count, unless you surf high on Acid :D
