Cornell's been in a few bands (Soundgarden, Temple Of The Dog and Audioslave), which do you reckon he was best in and for what reason?

Just wanted to know what you all think, not quite pearl jam related sorry.

My personal fave is temple of the dog. Badmotorfinger is great but that was all I really dug from SG. And I still like RATM much better than the 2 audioslave discs.

  • Temple of the dog is my favourite Cornell album, closely followed by Badmotorfinger.

My favourite Cornell song is Seasons from the Singles soundtrack - maybe my favourite song ever......
  • I love his solo CD. But i am going to say Soundgarden was my fav. Cornell project. I love all the CDs

  • Temple of the Dog is my favorite. I love Soundgarden especially badmotorfinger and Ultramega Ok. Superunknown was a bit overplayed, but has some really good material on it. Down on the Upside was a struggle. JMO
Some of the Audioslave stuff is good, but some seems like a RATM and Chris remix someone did after the fact.
What ain't a country I ever heard of. Do they speak English in what?
  • god i miss it when chris could actually sing well.....

soundgarden were amasing, as were temple of the dog, hard to pick a favourite, but id have to say after listening to superunknown all today soundgarden was cornell at his prime...

i really dont get all the hate for audioslave on this board...yes soundgarden was better...but imho not by that much..

and please..cornell can still belt it out..maybe not as well anymore on stage..but in the studio i really dont hear much of a difference between now and the SG days...

    my vote goes to SG

I am an audioslave fan, and a soundgarden fan, and a temple of the dog fan, and a fan of his solo work, which is fantastic.

The thing is, they're all different, and all good (though peoples opinions on that obviously differ).

I listen to all of it, depending on my mood. So I can't pick a favourite, as my favourite things are ever changing according to how I feel at that time.

i dont hate audioslave i just dont find their music anywhere near as intersting or oringinal as either SG or RATM.

and there is no denying that cornell has lost a serious amount of his vocal range, and the only place u can judge that is on the stage....

  • My favourite band in the world is Pearl Jam, by a long shot.....but the Temple of the Dog cd rules anything that Soundgarden and Pearl Jam have done, IMHO. That period had Chris Cornell at his peak....Say Hello To Heaven, All Night Thing, Call Me a Dog, Hungerstrike......just awesome!
  • Cornell rocks! What about his solo stuff. Euphoria Morning is a great record.
Anyone ever hear his solo song Sunshower??? An amazing song.

  • I like Chris the most when his voice can be heard at his best. I mean is his songwriting is of a high level anyway, but his singing tends to drown in the guitars in heavier songs on the SG albums. Thats why I love Temple Of The Dog and his solo stuff a lot. The first Audioslave album is awesome except for the trio Hypnotize, Bring Em Back Alive, and Light My Way. Not bad songs but not their best either.
