    nick drake-place to be

Flat out, I am a die hard fan of Dylan, Uncle Neil, Uncle Bruce, and of course Ed, but this is the best song ever written. period

Another contender, would be Nutshell by Alice in Chains. The power in this song is stunning. made all the more powerful by the fact this isnt a typical sludgy, dirty guitar song typical of Alice. Its acoustic.

    strictly for beauty:

    Mazzy Star- Fade Into You
"Stunned by my own reflection, It's looking back, sees me too clearly and I swore I'd never go there again, Not unlike a friend that politely drags you down, down, down"

When you see me on the street, yell out "FAVO!!!"

I've been to alot of Pearl Jam shows; So fucking what.

You're close, but I would put Grey Stables or Sodom South Georgia ahead of Passing Afternoon.

Also, Let it Be by The Beatles.

Marcy Playground is in my top 10 favorite bands off all time, even though they havent made anything new in awhile. But i've always said they have three of the most beautiful songs i've ever heard.

"From the Marcy Playground" is hard to find. I believe it is only on a limited release CD called ZogBogbean. A great CD all the way around. There is an instrumental song on there that is so sad and beautiful at the same time - it's called "My favorite Tree in Fall"

The other two most beautiful songs can be found on Shapeshifter:
    All the Lights Went Out
    And America
Pick up my debut novel here on amazon: Jonny Bails Floatin (in paperback) (also available on Kindle for $2.99)

"Who's better than Eddie Vedder?" - Oranje by Orson Corson
  • i'd go with neil's "star of bethelehem"

    i can dig it. :)
  • Second Intermission - Ani Difranco

followed closely by You Each Time also from Difranco

  • I say Lion's Mane by Iron and Wine. Or Halfway Home by Darryl Purpose.

    -from "n.s.u." by Cream
  • i always loved "as is"...such a beautiful song and performance

That was the first Ani song I truly loved before I became a hardcore fan. :)

Pretty much all of Grace by Jeff Buckley. However the single most beautiful song off all time is Morning Theft also by Buckley. I don't know how to describe this song except that it is the most beautiful thing I have ever heard.

"Escape is at Hand for the Travellin' Man" by The Tragically Hip. Nothing else comes close.
"I try my best to chug, stomp, weep, whisper, moan, wheeze, scat, blurt, rage, whine, and seduce. With my voice I can sound like a girl, the boogieman, a Theremin, a cherry bomb, a clown, a doctor, a murderer. I can be tribal. Ironic. Or disturbed. My voice is really my instrument."
