He has just released another haunting, yet beautiful album. Im in love with 9 so far.

The song rootless tree will be sung as loud as possible by everyone after their first listen.

There's a hidden track before the first song on the album. Just rewind the CD player when you start the album.

Seconded. This is a beautiful album.

    I'll third that...

I got this at the beginning of last week, and listed to it a few times, but always with other stuff going on. I sat down today and listened to it with no distractions, and I really really loved it.

I am going to see Damien Rice in December in Boston. Originally, only because Glen Hansard's (The Frames) side project is opening for him and I am a huge fan. So I am trying to listen to a bunch of Damien Rice in prep (I had never listened to him before), I like what I hear so far.

For those interested, I found this live show while searching online:

Just bought 9 and had a first listen tonight...

9 Crimes is gorgeous.... I first heard it when he played it on Letterman, was it? I can't remember what I was watching - but it was beautiful right from the start...

Lisa's vocals are incredible, as usual....
Damien's not so bad either.... lol! :D

I was already curious about this one. I am gonna try!
Any good suggestions for the album to start with, or just buy the last one?
Why not be mediocre and be the best at it that you can be?

I really like his new album, but it doesn't come close to O.

lol! indeed, it's a cheeky little tune... :)

At this point, I'd start with O. 9 is lovely, but the songs just don't stand out the way Blower's Daugther, Canonball, and Amie did....

9 is just as good as O... imo. i think the new record is a little more subtle than his first one but, still, all the songs on 9 are strong and beautiful just like the songs on O.

really only two songs on 9 (for me) jumped out into my ears. those two songs were tracks 1 and 4. the others were good but didn't jump out at me right away.

i do like this album more than O though... probably because the songs are new and more fresh to me though but, they're both beautiful and i still listen to O quite often.

so, if you want to get into damien rice and havn't yet, then just get both albums. listen to O about three times before you get into 9 and then you'll realize what you've been missing out on.
