Tom Waits - Bone Machine
Dinosaur Jr - You're Living All Over Me

that's what i thought. by my count... music has totally changed his life 23 times since elementary school. that works out to about twice per year. no wonder growing up can be so tough when you're that easily swayed
for me:
pearl jam- no code (97)
pearl jam- pearl jam (06)
got them both at the same time when i was 11. two weeks later i asked my parents for a guitar. i've been playing ever since. those albums opened my eyes to my own world of music. i always listened to the classic rock my parents played, and i enjoyed it, still do, but it was when i got those albums that i came into my own personal relationship with music. i've been "collecting" cds/tapes/vinyls ever since!
and they are still my top 2 favorite bands ever! always will be!
2000 : 9/4
2003 : 7/1
2006 : 5/30
2007 : 8/5
2008 : 6/17; 6/19; 6/20; 6/22; 6/24; 6/25; 8/16 (EV); 8/21 (EV); 8/22 (EV)
2009 : 6/11 (EV); 6/12 (EV); 8/23; 8/24; 10/27; 10/28; 10/30; 10/31
2010 : 5/13
2012 : 9/2; 9/21; 11/27 (EV); 11/28 (EV)
So here they are, off the top of my head, in any order (Oh and I took "life-changing" to mean just that):
Pearl Jam - Vitalogy
AC/DC - Dirty Deeds
Melanie Safka - Candles in The Rain
Marilyn Manson - Mechanical Animals
John Butler Trio - Three
Heart - Dream Boat Annie
Pink Floyd - Dark Side Of The Moon
Tool - Aenima
Silverchair - Frogstomp
Midnight Oil - 10,9,8......
George - Polyserena
Reading over everyone elses has reminded me of a few I forgot:
U2 - Under Blood Red Skies
Bob Dylan - Desire
Live - Throwing Copper
The Cure - Anything they've done so I'll say Greatest Hits
Patsy Cline - Ditto The Cure ;-)

heh.....music has really had a huge impact on my life. what can I say?
I couldn't pick just two or three records. Each one of those records has been there for me at a different time and they each mean something different.
it's honestly a heart-felt list.
That just came No.2 in Australia's Favorite Albums poll this week. You're right it is an amazing album. :-)

Hold on to the thread
The currents will shift
Weird Al- Greatest Hits
Guns N Roses- Use Your Illusion I & II
Pink Floyd- A Collection of Great Dance Songs
Pearl Jam- Animal (single, with a Daughter/ABITW2 B-Side)
REM- Automatic For the People
Smashing Pumpkins- MACHINA/The Machines of God
There have been other musical experiences, like high school band, concerts, mix tapes, etc, that have also had later effects on my life, but those are the albums that have most influenced my life to the point that I can say they've had a major effect on who I am and what I do today.
i think that'd be diff from life changing then, more like albums that saw you through the defining moments of your life.
the 2 i mentioned literally changed the direction of my life and who i was dramatically. if it was albums that had a large impact on my life or meant a lot to me at specific times, that'd be a much larger list
but more so i was just giving you shit
you're right. I should have changed the thread title....heh....:D
I edited my list down anyways.

There are a lot here because I am both a huge music fan and a guitarist. These are albums that pointed me in a new direction. They provided inspiration, or were an introduction to a genre that I never listened to before, but after words fell in love with. Some, I know directly influenced the course of my life afterwords. They are all important, even if some I don't really listen to anymore.

Pearl Jam - Versus.. it is probably one of the most played albums i own. if i was sent to a deserted island and could only chose 1 album.. this would be it. soft/hard/fast/slow/depth/feeling... its everything an album should be.
Pearl Jam - Pearl Jam a few songs on this album really describe what i was going through in my life.. leaving home under bad terms.. weirdest thing about it is that i was worried i was not going to get the album cause i pre-ordered it but i was leaving before the official release date (thank god for fan club early release). ended up getting it on the very last day i was "home".
Life Wasted and Gone really hit me.. i remember hearing Gone for the first time while unpacking my things.. was a really weird coincidence.
