Ok, so I realise I'm probably a majority of one here, but I just bought the double cd set America Here & Now.

And I can't believe how much of a blast from the past it is.

I'd completely forgotten about Sandman. I used to love that song when I was a kid. I've only had the album about 2 hours and I reckon I've played it about 12 times already!!

So anyway, disc one is all new stuff and disc 2 is all the old hits recorded live at XM Performance Theatre.

So anyway, I'm not really liking disc 1 so much. Something has happened with the singing. Sounds like a 12 year old doing it.
Anybody know anything about it?

Disc 2 is just an awesome disc and I'm loving it.

Comments? :)

I've been through the desert on a horse with no name it felt good to be out of the rain Cause in the desert you can't remember your name ....

La Laa Laaa Laa La Laa La

Only song by them i ever dug. To be honest when i was young i actually thought it was neil young... turns out i was so wrong. Shame oh the Shame for that.

I do love horse with no name. I had a greatest hits by them and just did not really dig much of the rest.

sounds like the set you got is pretty cool though.

Yes! Love that song!! America was the first ever album I owned. I think I was 3 or something when my uncle gave it to me.
And Horse With No Name was my favorite for a long time.

The version of it on this cd is pretty good.
But I gotta say this version of Sandman really kicks ass!! And it's very much like Neil Young actually.

Actually we've just moved on to Sister Golden Hair Surprise and it's pretty good too.

I reckon the first cd is maybe not doing much for me at this point, but I'll give it a couple more listens, but certainly this live disc 2 is fantastic. Much more upbeat and rocking. :)

Remember in the movie "Three Kings" there was this scene where some dude was leaving town in a hurry to teh strains of ............."if you leave me now, you take away a special part of me" ?????

Nealry died laughing, thinking about it now, takes me back to growing up in the 70's hearing that song on the old AM radio all the time in hte service station next door, can almost smell the place.
    Music is not a competetion.

America is a great band, they put on a really good live show too. I saw them open for Peter Frampton and Styx back in 2004.
